Better option at 2 for future - Taylor or Budinger?

Post#1 » by Finn Man » Sat Jul 17, 2010 8:39 pm

Which sophomore do you think will be the better player, Jermaine Taylor or Chase Budinger?

I have watched a couple of Houston games now in the off-season and it looks like Taylor is the better defender, slasher and finisher in the open court, but Chase is the better 3-point shooter and more of the "instant offense" type bench scorer with his all-around better jump shooting and good ability to get to the rim, but you guys have watched those guys more so I would like to hear your opinion.

You're pretty accurate in your assessment, although I don't remember Chase beating anyone off the dribble to get to the rim, he usually catches the defense rotating late so he goes straight for the basket. Budinger also displays good court vision and high IQ. Chase's ceiling is a 6th man, whereas Jermaine is an all-star IMO

so far chase has proven to be the better of the 2, but taylor showed he can play at the end of last season. keeping both would be good for next season, if battier declines

I'd like to keep em both because they are long and very cheap contracts. Besides Battier won't be around forever. But if I had to choose, I'd go with Bud. Taylor could be a stud but he never passed the ball much.

Taylor has more potential, but there are a lot of guys with 'potential'.

Right now it's Budinger and it's not even close, really.
