Depends. Which team do you root for?

For the Magic I'd say go for it!
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Apparently, Bill Simmons believes that the Cavs should trade for Gil.

FWIW, I just heard on the radio (106.7 The Fan) that the Arenas-Carter trade might be back on. :banghead: :nonono: :noway:

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Why can't we just give the Wall-Arenas backcourt one season? I never understood that feeling that Arenas would be a bad influence on Wall. This is inexplicably dumb.

How did they mention it? Did a host or guest mention it? Was it during a sports report? Was it prompted by Charles Barkley's comments to Dan Steinberg about needing to trade Gil? Was it an aside like-since Wall has played so well in summer league, maybe Gil will be traded for someone like Vince? I just wonder how it was mentioned. Thanks.

^ Maybe it's because of what they saw from Wall, especially the chemistry with McGee? Maybe they'd rather build on that instead of having Gil be the featured scorer? Just thinking out loud.

Apparently some one with inside sources who posts on Wizards Extreme said the trade is back on and it likely will happen. Personally, that's not enough to go on IMO but its got me worried.

Ernie complemented me on my gold Arenas jersey I wore yesterday. I still bitched out and couldn't tell him how I really felt. although I heard some fan at the Summer League thoroughly chewed him out to his face on Thursday.

A few weeks ago, it looked pretty unlikely that the Magic would take on that kind of salary, but after the assembling of Voltron in Miami, they need to do something epic and, given their trade chips, that would probably require being reckless too. Aside from the contract, Gil is simply the best weapon that they'd have any shot at.

The rumor could be total bunk, but you can see a theoretical incentive on the Orlando side of it. I don't know what to say as to the sources here, but Mike Lee reported that we were the one's who offered it up in June.

I guess we'll see. I'm not going to buy in until something happens.

That's the source that 106.7 quoted as well.

As predicted, Arenas' contract is looking less and less like the "worst contract in the league" and more and more like a superstar player who is just mildly overpaid. I like that credible guys like Simmons are starting to acknowledge that Arenas can still play at a real high level. Hopefully, it's an indication that Arenas can be moved if we so desire. Maybe it means that multiple teams will actually WANT Arenas and will be willing to sacrifice some assets for him.

Not to mention that the moves they've already made this offseason have been expensive and seemingly desperate. Matching a big deal for Redick, overpaying for Duhon, and giving a guy like QRich a multi-year deal that includes a trade kicker. Trading for Gil seems like a natural next step for them.

Honestly, I thought that these moves would preclude them from going after Gil. :dontknow:

I'm torn on this trade. Getting out of the remaining years of Gi's deal will be huge for long-term flexibility, but I still hold out some hope that he can find that swagger in him. Vince could be a decent one year plug in in a contract year who may benefit greatly playing with Wall. If he's performing well by midseason, we might also be able to get a contender to bite and give us picks and an expiring deal back to make a deal....In the end, its a trade I totally get, because if Gil has one more setback with injuriy, his contract will be impossible to deal.
