The only way I can see the Magic making that deal is if they've got a great deal on the table for Nelson/Gortat. The risk is just too great if it doesn't work out since Gil, like Lewis, is on a contract that is immovable until its last year. We'd essentially be betting the franchise on the fact that Gil/Nelson/Lewis/Howard could win a championship, which in my opinion isn't a good enough lineup to ensure a trophy.

There aren't too many great shooting guards, small forwards, or power forwards that could be bought at a discount at this point, so if this deal went down we'd have to assume the Magic would keep Nelson. In fact, the only two I can think of that aren't total pie in the sky options are Iggy and Granger and both come with a downside. Iggy doesn't really fit since he's exclusively a slasher and either one would force us to keep Lewis at power forward.

Still, I'd take the chance and make the deal if we could get one of those guys (or another comparable talent).

VC for Gil

then

Nelson, Gortat, Bass, and Pietrus for Granger, Foster, McRoberts, and Jones or Nelson/Gortat for Iggy/Smith

Gil/Duhan
JJ/Jones/Richardson
Granger/Richardson
Lewis/Anderson/Foster
Dwight/Foster

or

Gil/Duhan
JJ/Iggy/Richardson
Iggy/Richardson/Lewis
Lewis/Bass/Anderson/
Howard/Smith/Orton

I could see either of those lineups having enough talent to take down LA/Miami if things break right.

Hmm, I'm looking at a remaining contract of 17.7/19.2/20.8/22.3 for Gil, and the Wiz fans want us to include draft picks? Yeah, right. We definitely need to be getting some sweetener in this deal if we are taking on that much salary, especially given the injury history and recent gun play. I believe a two pg set could work, if its these two pg's. Both like to shoot, and can easily play off the ball as the other takes the handles. I don't see a repeat of Francis and Marbury at all with Gil and Jameer. Still, another deal involving Nelson and Gortat for a starting pf would make more sense here, or at least, Otis is leaving that door open for the somewhat near future. Also, if taking on so much salary was an obstacle in the so called Paul rumors, then how does this trade happen? Sounds fishy, and I'm on the fence with this one, need to see more details first.

Who is the insider? Is it mcwashington? lol. Come on this is ridiculous, this is not gonna happen. Wash would love for this to happen cuz they would get to dump Arenas but we are not dumb enough to do this. I can see Arenas coming here.....after Wash waives him because no one would be dumb enough to trade for him.

It's simply amazing how much the two fanbases differ in opinion on this one.

From the Wizard's perspective it is a win for Orlando and they are hoping for Gortat or a pick included.

From our perspective, the majority are thinking heck no to Gil because of the risk and contract.

The Wizard forum actually gave me a little hope if this does go down, we may be in a better situation with Gil. But my gut tells me that I really, really don't want this trade and contract.

not that i believe these stupid insiders, but I'd make this move if I were Otis. If Gilbert returns close to form, we wont be beat.

That' the 80 Million Dollar question. (Litterly)

Also, would'nt we be doing a HELL of a favor for the Wizards if we did this? Unless they can work in Blatche and a bunch of picks Otis wouldnt do it.

I like it but seriously doubt Detroit gives us Tayshaun for Nelson..

So for the fun of it I went and looked for some Gilbert quotes. You know, something wacky that only Arenas would say. Yes I found quite a few, but interestingly enough I found quotes from Otis and Jameer on Gilbert:

“Gilbert is going to be Gilbert. He’s a special, quirky kid and people misinterpret that to [mean] he’s just weird. But I think he’s just a different kid. His uniqueness is that he does whatever it takes to win.” - Otis Smith

“He has the green light — a neon green light — to go at the offensive end. It’s greener than anyone else’s in the NBA.” — Jameer Nelson

and some funny ones
“I had my house converted to the Colorado altitude, so I am always above sea level”

“Why would I endorse the hibachi grill when I am the hibachi grill?”

“The hibachi is coming to a city near you. I’m cooking chicken and shrimp, but if you want to throw a double team my way, filet mignon gets cooked too”

“My swag was phenomenal.”

“It was just me and my car … speeding — something that I shouldn’t be doing. Then I got that thought that I know everybody gets once in a while, I was like, “You know, what if I just ran my car into this pole right here?” I don’t know why I thought that, but I kept going with it. “Then I can jump off the road into this lake and just swim … or drown. Whichever one comes first.” It was really devastating. I was thinking, “Mannn, again?!” But I listened to Young Jeezy’s verse in “They Know” to get me past those bad thoughts … plus, I’m sane. I’m a sane person, I wouldn’t do that to myself.

When I was new in the NBA the team veterans convinced me to shave, you know, down there, because they said the hair stinks. I used my girlfriend’s razor, which was rusty and gave me keloids. The doctor prescribed medicine to dab on, but I just poured it all over. Three days later I woke up screaming. The skin was burnt off my scrotum, down to my crack, everything — just raw flesh. I still had to run and play, so I used a numbing spray for a month until it healed. Now I use clippers.

I know this is random, but I just want to clear this up for people out there.

There are these things called shark attacks, but there is no such thing as a shark attack. I have never seen a real shark attack.

I know you're making a weird face as you're reading this. OK people, a shark attack is not what we see on TV and what people portray it as.

We're humans. We live on land.

Sharks live in water.

So if you're swimming in the water and a shark bites you, that's called trespassing. That is called trespassing. That is not a shark attack.

A shark attack is if you're chilling at home, sitting on your couch, and a shark comes in and bites you; now that's a shark attack. Now, if you're chilling in the water, that is called invasion of space. So I have never heard of a shark attack.

When I see on the news where it's like, "There have been 10 shark attacks," I'm like, "Hey, for real?! They're just running around? Sharks are walking now, huh! We live on the land, we don't live underwater."

I know there are many more but i had to stop somewhere.

Please list all of the trades reported in advance that Otis actually made. Use an extra sheet of paper if necessary.

I think that's the only reason I'd want Arenas on the squad, pre/post game quotes. The guy's hilarious, and clearly inane

So you think the Wiz are going "to waive" Gil while still having to pay his salary?

Makes alot of sense.....

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I believe he has 4 more years left.
