I believe Gilbert would do great in Orlando. If anything, his heatlh shouldn't be a concern. He was getting real good again before his suspension, and now he just had another season of rest. At worst, he's going to average 20ppg for whatever team he plays for and provide a closer down the stretch of games.

We only have to put up with VC's contract for one more year, why in the world would want to take on another garbage contract like Gil's its beyond me. Gil is not a land slide over VC maybe a bit more consistent. The only way we become better is if Gil contract is bought out otherwise I dont want his contract for another 4yrs. And you know he will be stuck here like Shard no one will want his contract.

Re: Washington Insider: VC for Gil *will* happen
You guys have to realize that another bad contract is not going to hurt the TEAM any more than we are already hurting.
We are so far over the cap and will be for the next few years that nothing we add matters.
We WILL NOT be able to get under the cap until Rashard's contract expires...and guess what, that is the same time that Gilbert's contract expires.
So stop giving me the bad contract argument unless your name is RDV...he would be the only one to feel the wrath of Gilbert's contract.

You are right...could have sworn I looked before and they expired the same year. Maybe it was the PO in that year that threw me off.

You know
the idea of Gilbert is not bad
Breaking down the stats, he improved every month december he averaged 25/8. I know he has a huge contract, but he is a clear upgrade over Vince

aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Re: Washington Insider: VC for Gil *will* happen
The big problem with a deal of VC for Arenas is that Vince is basically an expiring right now; Orlando holds a team option on his $18M contract for the 11/12 season and they can tell him to take a hike after this year if they like, or use him as appealing trade bait. Arenas has a guaranteed year at $19M, then a $20M player's option and if he picks that up, a $22M salary for 13/14.
It's high-risk because of that and because he's played an average of about 16 games a season over the last 3 years from injuries and suspensions but if he stays on the court?
He's a vast improvement over Vince or Hedo in terms of on-ball dynamism and scoring potential. He's clutch, he's got range, he can drive, he draws fouls, he can pass... Arenas may be up and down and a weird dude, but he's got talent. If SVG could pull a Phil-Jackson-on-Dennis-Rodman and make him work, then Orlando would be devastatingly talented and incredibly dangerous.

Re: Washington Insider: VC for Gil *will* happen
I don't believe it. There has also been speculation on that board that he tore his ACL in some pickup game, so why no confirmation on that from said insider? They want him outta there, then they need to buy him out or trade his bad contract for bad contract and take Shard back. Doubtful, since Stan would eat a booboo burger before giving up his precious strech 4.
No reason to do it except to help them. It's a gamble to not make a move, because we don't know if VC will play better or not, but as things stand it's a 1 year risk right now, and a 4 year risk if we take Gil. So what if Gil has a good rapport with our gm. They have been cool all this time without Gil playing for his team, so no reason to change things now. Just don't believe it.

That is one thing I really hadn't considered...I am not so sure SVG & Gilbert's personality would mesh well...could end up with SVG having a hole in him and Gilbert back in jail.

It's a worse contract that 'Shard's at this point, but I'm so desperate to move Vince (or 'Shard) that this is a gamble I can forgive Otis for taking.
Even if Gilbert doesn't pan out, worse comes to worse it means we see more Peaches and Redick (addition by subtraction). I think Mike is due a bounce back season.

As a Wizards fan, I would have absolutely no interest in Rashard Lewis.
Here is today's update from the guy who posted the rumor yesterday:
"i heard it from someone close and i mean close to Arenas....so i cant say they are lying but then again, it might not go down at all...im relaying what "he" told me.....i was just told what i was told....."

Well I think if Wizards can't move Arenas, then I think Lewis for Arenas actually would be good for the wizards, wizards is wall's team now, and having arenas there is not good for his development, with lewis you have a player on a shorter contract, and his game would help wall a lot more than arenas would.

No, the Wizards have NO interest in Lewis. The would better to keep Arenas and hope his value goes up if he plays well and stays healthy. Lewis does nothing for the Wizards nor do I think he would want to play for the Wizards.

It would be a talent upgrade. I don't mind the contract since we have ton of horrible contracts anyway. After '13, everyone expire except Gortat and Duhon, according to Hoopshype. If Magic decide to go for free agents that year, they can also trade Arena's expiring contract.
Fire Otis!
