Possible"C" additions

Post#1 » by Farsider322 » Sun Jul 18, 2010 3:08 am

Josh Boone: He has recovered from a season ending knee injury in 2009, and was playing behind another center last year. He is on the second year after the injury, and I think he could be signed fro the minimum.
Before his injury he was averaging 31 min, 15pts, 11 rb, 2a, 1s, 2bs.

Rasho Nesterovic: Has always been a producer, and always played as a reserve. Another player that could be signed for the minimum. 4 game stretch last year when he got some minutes.

+1
He is the best we are going to do for the money and the organization really likes him. Fes has done really well in his backup min the past season and often steps up when needed, like the HUGE comeback against Portland. He may be a slow learner, but he just needs more time to develop and I think the FO firmly believes that.

I would take Josh Boone for the minimum price.

I think that both of those guys are good suggestions although unlikely yo sign with the Jazz.

Boone is a RFA and and will be looking to get someone to sign him to an offer sheet. Wont be had for the minimum.

Nesterovic is still a productive backup C in limited minutes (10-12mpg) and could be had for the minimum but will have a number of teams looking to sign him though, most likely resign with Raptors.

Here is a recent article listing the available big men left: http://celticshub.com/2010/07/17/with-b ... whos-left/

Although the author missed some guys like: Anthony Tolliver, Juwan Howard, Steven Hunter, Sean May, Earl Barron.

I would have loved to signed either Kurt Thomas (37) or Joe Smith (34) for the minimum last year to add a tough minded vet to our bench to motivate Booz but Al should be moviated enough playing for a playoff team and we did add Bell to fill that void.

Anyone think Theo Rattliff could stay healthy and protect the paint for us in backup minutes?

He's had a bad history of getting paid, injured, and sitting the bench for long periods of time. He's old, but he has great timing, and would fit the long, defensive C-F that we need to go with out bulky bigs.

Boone is a good player, I wouldn't mind seeing him here - but his free throw shooting needs to improve - a lot.

Augustine would just spend all year in the d-league anyways

I've been missing the summer league. What is Augustine's game like? I get the drift that he is a scoring big, and that scares me a little bit (we don't need scoring from a backup F/C right now).

I see Jarron Collins 2.0. He is a bit more athletic and doesn't have the same Bball IQ (which was Collins' only asset) but he could be nice in spot minutes. I think he is more of a power forward though than a center.

I'm not a Warriors homer, I live in Utah and I go to a lot of Jazz games...

I really think the Jazz need a player like CJ Watson. He's a better point guard than Price, a better shooter, a better defender and a better scorer. He doesn't play out of control and he doesn't make a lot of bad decisions. He can also play some two along D-Will....

He's not the best PG, but that's why he's a cheap backup. I was pushing for this last year and I really think he would be a HUGE plus.
