I thought a "you will be an All Star here" would have been perfect.
But you can't ask a person to be what he's not, or to not be what he is.

Well, he made Okur an All-Star also, and almost made Millsap one two years ago even before he had a jumpshot.

I don't think Al will have any problem, and I actually predict he makes it this year if the Jazz are having any kind of success through January.

DeMarcus Cousins, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, Al Harrington, Luis Scola, there are some good PF's in the West....Zach Randolph...

It is not going to be that easy...

Except for the fact that Jefferon's going in at C.

And did you just mention Harrigton as a good pf?

AJ is in the very top crop of Western big fellas, that's a fact. He can give the Jazz a twist in their post game, that little nastiness on the block that would make guys like Gasol to ACTUALLY WORK HARD on defense, to GIVE UP SOME GOOD STAMINA on the D side of it. That's enough to get us a tad closer to them.
That said, IMHO West will be harder to win than last season.

I think the West should be a softer conference this year than last year. Amare is gone, the Spurs are yet another year older, and most of the top draft picks went to the East with the exception of Sacto which I still don't see as a playoff threat.

I think OKC will improve based on the fact that they are a year older, but it seems to me that most other teams moved laterally i.e. Denver, Portland, Dallas, Houston (may get better if Yao can stay healthy,) and I never have a ton of faithin the Hornets.

There is no reason the Jazz shouldn't be competing for the #2 spot just like last year. Hopefully this time we don't start the playoffs on the road again.

Which teams in the West have improved outerspacefella?

I'm not sure if any of them have besides Sacramento, Golden State, LAC (all bottom dwellers), OKC (slightly) and Portland (because of injury recovery).

I don't think there's been much of a change in the top teams.

Denver got Al Harrington, whoop dee doo, San Antonio got Splitter finally. The Rockets get Yao back, which is as unreliable as anything.

I don't see it any more difficult. I still think, if we can get through the Lakers, we'll be the ones with the experience and fire power to get to the Finals, honestly. Maybe it's a little wishful thinking (okay, a lot), but I feel like we'd have beaten any other Western team in a 7 game series last season (Suns being the biggest toss-up, and they lost Amare and became an even SMALLER, SOFTER run and gun team).

Ming will be the starting C for the All-Star game 3 years after he dies. In fact, there might never be another starting C for the West til the end of the NBA.

Normally, I would dismiss this as hyperbole, except the big fella got T-Mac voted in as All Star starter last season, so you might just be right on that one.

Too bad idiots let China vote.

Yeah he was easily the best Center in Europe from what I've seen.

Congrats on Al Jefferson, you have a beast downlow finally. He will make your halfcourt offense top notch. Deron Williams and Al Jefferson is an excellent duo. Now its time to find a third star.

Well, talking just about Northwest Division, last season Denver won it with 53 wins over Utah's 53 because of a tie-breaker, while both Portland and Oklahoma tied for third with 50 wins.
I think Portland with healthy bigs, or Oklahoma with another year under its belt, are very capable of winning 3 more games....

OKC's the only division team I'm worried about.
