Great achievement as a 58th overall draft pick.

Here are his stats from the '10 Summer League:

15.4 Points on .593 FG%, 8.6 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.4 SPG, and 1.4 BPG.

That was his 5 game average. He joined 2nd year pro Javale McGee and 5th overall pick Demarcus Cousins as the only players in the Vegas summer league to drop at least 15 PPG and pull down at least 8 rebounds.

Alot of people are talking about Devin Ebanks and rightfully so, but deffanitely whatch out for Caracter.

Caracter is going to help us now more so than Devin, it is imperative that Phil integrates Derrick quickly. I want to see him get some burn.......flat out he can play and people need to stop tripping on his draft status. Truth be told he was a 1st rounder that was dropped by scared GM's not wanting to take a chance. Yeah he had some issues in college......so what, it happens.

Think about it of the 30 GM's only about 3 or 5 have been with their teams for more than 4 years, Mitch and the guy in San Antonio have the longest tenures. Most have just gotten their jobs and are afraid to take a chance.

It's good that our draftees did so well in the summer league, because that's about all we can afford.

Once he gets adequate on the glass, he will be a class player. He's got pretty good post moves for a 58th pick.

I think its imperative now that we offer these guys contracts.

This kid is a beast, I watched all of his VSL games and he not only handled out there but played comfortable as well.

Good to see Caracter get some love after so many GMs passed on him. I'd love to see him signed as our 4th big, the role is limited but he'd be cheaper than a vet like Kurt Thomas. Not to mention the much needed youth.

I think you guys came out a winner in this year draft. Getting a Blair 2.0 and Ariza 2.0 for cheap is priceless.

I'm curious to see this guy on the varsity. Totally different game, but I've been reading good things about him in a number of different spots.

I can't compare Caracter to Blair, while both are of similar stature, I think Blair is much better rebounder, I see alot of times opponents can easily steal the reb away from Caracter either just tap it away and out jump him. But Caracter has better post moves then Blair, Blair seems to get the hustle points rather then actually posting up.

They're not even similar stature, Blair is 2 inches shorter, 20 lbs heavier, has a wingspan that is 2 inches larger and is focused on rebounding (Also, being from Pitt - I love Blair). Caracter is a scorer first.

thats the only thing that concerns me is his rebounding in the nba. seems like he has small hands and cant grip the ball. his offensive game looks just fine though
