IND-MIN-TOR
MIN GIVES: Sessions + Hollins
MIN GETS: cap space + 2nd + rights to Lorbak + Barac
IND GIVES: Jeff Foster + 2nd + rights to Lorbak + Barac
IND GETS: Sessions + Hollins
TOR GIVES: TPE
TOR GETS: Jeff Foster
MIN gets lots of cap space for players who wouldn't see much of the floor, and a couple promising Top 20 euros that don't cost cap space
IND solves its starting PG problem and gets younger. Pacers can start developing their young PG this season alongside the rest of their youth. Hollins backs up Hibbert, and I believe he's a local phenom.
TOR gets a reasonably-priced defensive center to pair with Bargnani

Maybe Indiana is too cheap, but I see us getting cut out and....
Calderon plus Evens/Banks
for
Ford and Foster
...working out better for both of those teams

edit: how did we trade for the President? I think he has more important things to do, cut him out.

Note that Foster has a trade kicker. Is he really worth $7 million to Toronto? Is he really a center?
Also, Hollins is from CA.

I know TOR fans are hoping for a deal like this, but I'd be surprised if IND was willing to take on Calderon's longterm money. They will clear trememndous cap space next season, and their roster is just Granger and guys on rookie deals. Calderon makes about $10 mil/year for 3 years. I don't think he can get back expirings.

There is no doubt cap space is very valuable in and of itself, but by making this move Indiana is moving from 30mil in cap space next year to 20mi (approximates)l. That is still enough for one max player. Sounds like more than enough to me...Calderon and Granger are both solid pieces; George and Hibbert are both solid prospects; they then have 20 mil or so next year to find a knock out power forward. This trade trade makes sense because it eliminates a positional need entirely going forward...while trading for Sessions fills the need, but you still are in prospect status...not entirely sure what you are going to get.
Eventually, using cap space is the only way to build a team, whether they use next years space now or next year does not matter unless they think something significantly better next year. I doubt they foresee something better down the pike and, thus, consider this.
You may be right that TOR may to need to include sweeteners (such as a Heat pick or something).

Who is Barac and why do I suddenly want him on this team?

Stanko Barac .. a euro-center that DX has listed on its Top 25 foreign rights held.
The more I looke at this deal, the more I don't like the Foster part. I think he'd fit, but he seems to have declined so much that I don't think he's worth the raw cap space the Pacers need to complete the deal with MIN. they'd probably have to add one of their young prospects, but its hard to tell from their board which oine they'd be willing to part with.

Re: IND-MIN-TOR
Cut out Toronto. Indy's plan is to build around Granger with George, Hibbert, and cap space.
Sessions/Hollins for Foster solves their PG problem in the short term, but adds too much salary next year without cutting any this year.
I just don't see anything happening with Indy after the way Kahn bashed them pre-draft.

How is it shrink FTW? Toronto laughs at this bs, they give up a much more valuable TPE for an expiring, plus they go over the luxury tax, and get no incentive in doing so, horrible.

Why would toronto want tj ford back. This deal is a joke. Toronto wouldn't give up tpe for chandler, they are not going to trade it for jeff foster.

I agree with TOR fans here. Foster fits the type of player they could use, but on further review, he's slipped a lot farther than I remember.

Still, the makings of something feasible is here. Just drop Toronto if they aren't interested in Foster. He would still be an expiring (would that be tradeable at the deadline?) and the euro prospects are always something I am a fan of. The 2nd seems light though, since Foster doesn't do much for us other than being a 4th or 5th big and an expiring (which is not as good as cap space), but the value still doesn't seem too far off. A distant future 1st maybe? Additional 2nd's don't seem like great pick up's, but still, I think it could be close without Toronto.

Re: IND-MIN-TOR
Lorbek will be a welcomed addition in 2012 for Indy, fulfilling Murphy's role after he departs, minus some of the rebounding, but with more elevation and athleticism.
Regardless... I think the best move for Indy is a D.Jones/S.Jones for R.Sessions swap.
I doubt Indy will invest too much into acquiring a stop-gap pg, especially their hard-earned cap-space.
This deal essentially takes away from Minny's colluded pg position and disperses the talent in the form of enhancing your perimeter defense. When DJones started for Indy he was averaging somewhere in the neighborhood 17/4/4, with ferocious D, until Granger returned, at this point Jones was an afterthought.
Also, Solo was a better b/u center than Foster last season, offering resistance in the paint while challenging shots.
I think it is fair.
