Great Breakdown of Lawal

Post#1 » by DBrimstone » Mon Jul 19, 2010 7:42 am

Thought everyone would be interested in this and I didn't see anything that really looked like a thread I could put it in. Sorry for the new thread, just couldn't make it fit anywhere else

http://nbaplaybook.com/2010/07/18/gani- ... e-belongs/

He just needs to shore up his free throw shooting. He draws fouls like no other, which this article talks about. We don't really need him to have an outside jumper, that's what we have Frye for which is who he compliments the best. Frye's the finesse stretch 5 while he's the banger in the post who's pulling down rebounds. I'm pretty excited by him. At 46, he seems like he'll be a steal

This guy will be quite possibly the biggest fan favorite in Phoenix. He'll surpass Lou he'll be up there with dudley. This guy not only has the heart and the intangibles he has the talent too. He's going to be a better version a more athletic version of Lou.

I honestly think he should see time this year to help us grab rebounds. It honestly couldn't hurt.

When Gani's put on another 10 pounds of muscle and polished off some of his post moves that'll be mean. I'm also looking forward to Frye and him. It'll be nothing but 1 on 1, Lawal's mean manly mucsles and attitude vs. some poor sap who thinks he can stop a train. I wish we'd never signed Warrick. All he is is a guy who can finish off Nash and Dragic passes. Anybody can do that. Lawal at least brings toughness and rebounding. Fail of a free agent signing, totally sweet draft. Why must we put up with Warrick when we could develop Lawal!?

To raw to start, too much potential to ignore... i'm excited to see him play. Gentry will give him some decent mins. Can't shoot free throws, but neither can Lou. Definitely a steal at 46.

I don't know a heck of a lot about him but from what I've seen he either needs to develop at *least* a 15 footer or put on about 15-20 pounds of muscle.

25% of Lou's shots were jumpers and he sunk them at a decent clip of 42.9% eFG (0.8ppg)... Ben Wallace had 15% of his as jumpers but at a stinking 26.7% eFG so it only added 0.3ppg.

He either needs to bang with the 7-foot 260+ pound monsters like Ben or be able to get an easy shot off from 15-18 feet like Lou. If he can do both then skies the limit. My pipe dream is that he becomes similar to Horford.

One step at a time of course.

Jesus' D has always been overrated - no lateral quickness since the foot and wrist injuries

Pity about him though, from Jerusalem. So far away from the U.S. He wasnt really given an oppotunity to shine in the NBA.

Looking at the bigs taken before him I'd say so. Trevor Brooker's an inch shorter so you're never sure how he'll pan out in the long run yet, Craig Brackins was taken at 21, and from what I saw in summer league, his biggest aspirations are to be Channing Frye, but even less likely to rebound... There's about 6, maybe 7 bigs taken before him that I'd still want him over. The only person taken later I MIGHT want more is Caracter. Lawal just seems like one of those players who will be a constant. You know what you'll get from him night in and night out

I like the potential in Lawal as a backup spark player that will rebound, run, block shots and have some great dunks. I would like him to get a mid range game too like Amare had. But I do too want to see what Clark can do before him. He has more tools and talents.

Great pick thus far at 46. But it is too early to tell if he was a steal for us.

Im hoping Lawal becomes a "better shot blocking" Haslem.

Remember Boozer was selected 2nd round also, it is possible to get "stars" on a late pick...

I do like Hassan Whiteside, outside of Lawal, Whiteside is the 2nd player (big man) I wanted the Suns to pick. Looks Camby-like... or a longer Theo Ratliff!

Lawal also put up the same stats as Favors, didnt he?

Although Favors did look more talented... but in the NBA, talent is 30%, ability to outcompete/out effort the other players is almost as important... Lawal isnt on the same talent level as Favors accordng to Scouts.. but in output, production and impact, he is equal.

This is great for Lawal, means he is getting recognition over some the other more "prominent" players in the VSL.

I see his contribution this year being like Brian Skinner in 08, or 07, whenever that dude was here.
