WTF? Collins

Please tell me that Jason Collins is delusional and that the Hawks aren't really considering resigning him. I'm sure the Big RV is a wonderful person, but we carried him on the roster all last year with thought that he'd come in handy against Dwight Howard and in our series against Orlando he played 6 minutes. Surely there are better options at league minimum salary.

God, this sucks. You know that ASG is going to consider this the big that they promised to get. A**holes.

I prefer to see a youngster here and not someone like Jason Collins. It annoys me that our ownership and Sund are going in this direction.

You guys got fed up with Shaq or you never really wanted him?

It's my understanding that Atlanta did not want Shaq at the $ he is seeking. I do believe that this ownership group is trying to pull a fast one on this fanbase, as I believe Collins is the "big" that ASG talked about. Say hello to another 50 or so wins and a second rd exit.

Shaq want a sign-&-trade for Marvin to get more money, but we don't have to send a young guy to sign an old one, that's just stupid.
And we would need help at SF.

So it has to be signed, for 3.5M, or we have to make a big trade before that would bring less salaries than what we send, and get some more money under the Tax to sign Shaq for more, since our owners doesn't want to pay any Tax, even after getting 3M by selling he 31th pick.

Would much rather see Othello and Siler than Collins... Couldn't we sign both of them for the amount we will have to pay Collins? I know neither would play that much, but neither will Collins...

This is dellusional, yes.
For sure Siler could offer, at least, the same things than Collins is going to do.
In the other hand, doors are closing around Shaq and we will see where he can play for that money. There are not many teams left with a need for a center and willing to spend.

I'd rather see Collins than Siler. But I'd easily prefer Zoubek over either.

Siler is cheaper than Collins, and would play likely the same amount of minutes with the same effectiveness.

Hell, I would prefer playing no one over Collins, he's a waste of a roster slot and cash.

I think Collins would only count the 2 year vet minimum (~858K) with the difference paid by the league, I think Siler and Zoubek would be eligible for rookie minimum which is even lower (~450K). If Collins gets brought back after last year I would have to suspect he's more assistant coach than player and this point.

Like someone has already said; what's the point of Collins again?? ; he isn't going to play a lot ; you can get the same production from other players at a lot less cost effective.

Didn't I read that Collins logged few minutes because he was never in shape?

How can that turn into a mentoring position for this team? He doesn't have anything to provide to our big men.

I just think he is our blocking dummy in practice and Horford gets to beat up on him in practice.

An expensive practice player IMO....just like Randolph Mo, who I expected something out of him.
