I like Bayless, but he's really not what this team needs. He's a scorer and we need a playmaker. Andre Miller (although he's not young) would be a better fit.

I could see Jose being very good on Memphis. Guys like Gasol & Randolph don't need a playmaking point guard like Steve Nash to be successful, they need a point guard who can feed it to them in the post and run and pick and roll from time to time.

Wonder if they would toss him in an arenas trade

No they would not.

we need to get a Lawson/Collison/Conley on the Raptors. We just need a young PG and wed be set.

Not so much Conley I wouldn't want us to grow with him, it would be a lot more beneficial with a great facilitator in Collison or Lawson.

i think i found the perfect trade for everyone. Two options

Option 1:
(the best IMO for everyone)

To Toronto: Darren Collison + Emeka Okafor + James Posey
To New Orleans: Roy Hibbert + Mike Dunleavy + Reggie Evans + 2 million TE created
To Indiana: Jose Calderon + Marco Belinelli + 2011 MIA 1st Round Pick.

NOH gets huge cap space for 2011 to put a winner around paul. 20 million under contract + they would need to re-sign west + they could go after a star wing player to convince Paul to stay. Hibbert is a good prospect just like Collison (not on the same level but still) except they shed huge salaries of Okafor and Posey which is where the value comes from.

This puts them at 63,556,545 million in committed salaries.

- id expect them to go after a PG for 2 million like Farmar for example
- Maybe sign some big man depth for the minimum/2 million ish (Kwame Brown?)
- then sign a minimum 3rd string PG like Chucky Atkins

Paul / Farmar (2 million) / Atkins (minimum)
Thorton / Dunleavy
Peja / Pondexter / Wright
West / Evans / Brackins
Hibbert / Brown (2 million) / Songila

* under tax still, has huge cap room and has room to make trades + stay under the tax. Would be about 4 million under so they could always trade Peja/Dunleavy at the deadline and go for it

IND gets a PG, pick and young SG and get a pick for losing Hibbert

Calderon / Ford / Price
Rush / George / Belinelli
Granger / Jones
Hansbrough / Mcroberts
Murphy / Foster / Jones

* id expect a Ford deal after this for a Center like Mohammad for example. Ford for Mohammad would give them a 2 million TE and a defensive C and works under the 1.25 + 100,000 rule.

Toronto gets a young PG, defensive C and a defensive SF.

option #2

To Toronto: James Posey (absorbed through TE) + Darren Collison + Emeka Okafor
To New Orleans: Marco Belinelli + Roy Hibbert + Mike Dunleavy + 4.8 million TE
To Indiana: Jose Calderon + MIA 2011 1st Round Pick

This idea lets IND get further away from the tax. NOH saves more money, TOR takes on more money but i like the 1st option the best.

Jarret Jack (23) / Darren Collison (25) / Marcus Banks
Demar Derozan (26) / Lenadro Barbosa (22)
Linas Klezia (23) / Sonny Weems (25) / James Posey
Andrea Bargnani (32) / Ed Davis (16) / Joey Dorsey
Emeka Okafor (28) / Amir Johnson (20) / Solomon Alabi

that team can RUN. Its young, plays defense, and has versatility. hell i think that team could push for the playoffs next year. Its so athletic, Jack mentors Collison, Barbosa here means we dont really need Belinelli, we need SF depth, Posey gives us that, we need a defensive C, Oakfor is just that and only 27. Its a deadly team and has a **** load of youth.

What about this trade offer to MINNY (they love their PGs----> KHHHHHAAAAN)

Toronto Trades-
Jose Calderon
Marco Bellinali
Joey Dorsey (stock up as his summer league performance was impressive)
MIA 1st Rounder

Minnesota Trades-
Ramon Sessions (could be Flynn as well but I think Minny rather part ways with Sessions)
Ryan Hollins (Toronto interested in him?)

-Minny has cap space to absorb the contracts and Bellinali and Dorsey are expiring

-Toronto interested in Hollins (athletic C) and would accept Sessions deal as it is less than Calderons

See link for how number looks (and Hollingers bunk analysis)

if Barnes signs.

To Toronto: Biedrins
To Indiana: Calderon
To Golden State: Dunleavy + Cash

Jack / Barbosa / Banks
Derozan / Weems / Belinelli
Klezia / Barnes
Bargnani / Davis / Dorsey
Biedrins / Johnson / Alabi

* Evans traded

or

To Toronto: Biedrins
To Indiana: Calderon + Vlad
To Golden State: Foster + Dunleavy

2nd option makes sense because GSW gets a Center back. Id expect IND to do Ford for Mohammad or another center.

Id try and trade Evans + Cash for a TE or player who wont play.

Mo Pete and Kyle Weaver from Thunder for Marcus Banks

BRING Snickers home :)

Why for Thunder a bit of cap space and they get their 3rd PG for a couple players on their surplus list.

Why for T. simple BRING Snickers home and get a defensive prospect

Solves all problems

Toronto 2010-2011

Jack/Andre Miller/Beli
DeRo/Barbosa/Weems
Barnes/Kleiza/
Bargs/Amir/Davis
Ming/Oden/Gortat/Alabi/Dorsey

Ming and Oden Can play for each other while the other is injured, Gortat/Alabi/Dorsey will get their minutes since its likely that both will be injured at the same time.

Andre and Jack split time, Andre does not have to contend with Roy.

We rid ourselves of Banks, Evans and Calderon and with all the trade exemptions moved around we get Barnes.

We also get 23mil in expirings since Yao and Oden have 1 year left. We could keep one or both. Yao will never get that kind of money again and Oden hasn't done anything to get more.

Oden is the unlikely piece. Don't know if Portland has given up on him.

Yao would like it in Toronto due to the huge Chinese population. He'd be the king of this City, Master of the CHIN picnic and Chairman of the Pacific Mall.

as much as i appreciate your trade ideas, indiana does not want calderon. this forum generally perceives jose to have a higher market value than he really has.

Indiana will not get a better PG in FA than Jose Calderon. Also doesnt really affect their ability to offer a max contract next summer, they still have that space. To get a young SG + MIA pick out of it is a decent enough return, especially if they want that max contract as MIA pick can provide some cheap depth.

To Tor
Marcin Gortat

To Orl
Reggie Evans & Joey Dorsey

Trade ID #5626130

Give Marcin 28 mins per game and he would average 10/10/2 but with Howard around and in that bomb-threes system: He will never get that playing time.

Reggie would be perfect to relentlessly run after those missed-threes.
Same for Joey Dorsey.

Everybody wins!

Mo Williams + Delonte/Parker (whatever they want)
for
Calderon + Belinelli

- Cle-1 Million less in salary, Players suited better for their team, Good facilitator for offense
- Tor- Suited better for Toronto, only two years of Mo's contract. Easier to move.

Jack + Parker or West + Joey Dorsey+ 12m TPE + Miami 2011 1st Round Pick
for
Collison + Okafor + Posey

- NOH - Cap Relief , Cap Flexibility
-TOR- Collison is better than Jack . Okafor's Contract would be absorbed into TPE. More exprings for 2012.

Okafor/Amir
Bargnani/Davis
Barnes /Weems
Derozan/ Barbosa
Collison/Mo Williams

extra: Evans, Banks, Dwayne Jones, Posey,Alabi

Next season:
11m-12m in capspace, resign collison
keep rest of cap space for next season

Then Cap Space from roughly 30m in expirings to fill in sg spot, sf spot,pg spot.
with
Bargnani /Amir
Okafor /Davis
/Weems
/Derozan
/Collison
:D

Return to Toronto Raptors
