I can't imagine that this rumor has teeth.

This would be a reckless and dangerous gamble on a player that is overrated, injury prone, and certainly troubled.

IMO, this would be the dumbest move ever made by the Magic.

We'll see how the rumor plays out as to it's validity, but I wholeheartedly condemn the notion.

Gil isnt injury prone. He had one season battling a strained muscle and 1 bad injury, that is it.

Missing massive amounts of games 2 of the past 3 seasons due to injuries as he's gotten older says otherwise.

I'm fine with Arenas over Vince, but the contract hurts. Value wise, Arenas probably has more value talent wise, but we'd be stuck with him NYC style if he's Vince 2.0 for the next 4. Difference is, he's a great passer and scorer - so Meer would have to be on the way out because he's our most valuable piece outside Dwight and Arenas would put him on the bench.

Though TOR moving Turk shows, we as fans can be o-so-wrong. People can and will get moved.

I think there has to be a 2nd trade to go with it if I was Otis. I mean, to move Arenas with all that risk we have to get something else like Blathe or a pick. That's for starters.

Then, we'd haev to have a deal in place putting Jameer and change to get either a premiere SG or PF. Here's the deal. I'm going to go into 2k10 and pretend to be Otis and do the following:

1. Trade Vince for Arenas and either a pick/young talent like Blathe
2. Trade Meer (tough because I'm a meer fan) and change (peaches? Gortat?) for Granger and change. Granger is an SF, but he could play SG with his stroke and post game if we could get Blathe, or we stick with Shard at 4 and pray Redick and JJ shore up the SG spot.

Arenas/ Duhon/ JJ
Granger/ JJ
Rashard / Peaches
Blathe/ Shard / Maybe Anderson / Bass / Orton
Dwight/ Maybe Gortat / Bass / Orton

Well I would like the Wizards first round pick especially if it turns out to be Harrison Barnes, Brandon Knight or Kyrie Irving.

They would put some kind of protection on the 1st for sure. I'd assume for the first year it would be lottery protected then top 10, top 3, top 1 or something like that.

Video Games aren't realistic. Especially those NBA games where they accept like any deal.

That team would win less than 50 games. 5 PFS? LMAO.

Guys relax, I don't actually think we're getting Granger. Hell, I don't really think we're getting Arenas.

This is all just fun speculation, that's it. I'm sticking to the line that if Vince is dealt, it's likely at the deadline or not at all. Arenas is great and all, but we need to upgrade PF or SF, Jameer is fine in my book.

Gilbert Arenas, Danny Granger, Andray Blatch going to the Magic all in one post

That may be perhaps the most RealGM post I've ever seen

and that was based on 1 bad injury, like i said. And he came back to start the season off last year very well. 22/7/5 for a PG is pretty dam good. is top 3 pts and rebounds, top 8 in assists. Not saying do or dont make the trade, but he wasnt 'injury prone any more than Chris Paul.

Agent Zero as a SG is a recipe for disaster.

According to who? and for that matter what?

I wasn't really taking a shot at you (unless you think we should start Gil at the 2 or bring him off the bench), just responding in generalities.

I didnt take it that way. I just wonder why it would be recipe for disaster. According to Flip Saunders Gil played alot of mins at the 2 and was effective, some of the Wiz fans concour.

My issue is with the Jameer/Gil backcourt wouldn't work based on shot attempts as if Jameer is some ball hog jacking up shots Ryan Garrity style. It's not like he can't adjust and no indication that he wouldn't. I think it would be great to have a player at almost every position that can light up at any time. Everyone's reaction to seeing these 2 on the court is immediate meltdown. geezuz

I wouldn't touch him and that contract with a 10 foot pole.

47 games in 3 years for whatever reasons makes this a horrible gamble to even consider.

Arenas compiles stats.......

The Magic can't be that desperate......

Areanas as a talent >>>> Vince

Vince >>>> Areanas Contract

Vince injury's = Areanas injury's

Hmmm........ Im not really sure how i feel, Im still on the fence.... I wouldn't say we get shafted but i also wouldn't be jumpin for joy unless Gil could somehow turn into the Pre-Injury 22/7/5 Guy...

I think Gil would be a great pickup for you guys. If healthy, he can be a legitimate scoring #1 in the league. That's something you need against teams that can stop Dwight.

The Wiz aren't that CRAZY to add Blatche in the trade. They will probably throw in Yin or Thorton.

But last year was due to a suspension (which I highly doubt would happen again), and he was completely healthy in games before that. And the games he missed in the two years before that were from the same knee injury.

The first time, he tore his MCL, and after that he had to have another surgery to remove scar tissue and other debris from the original injury. After his good start last year, and the time off from the suspension for any extra healing, I am not worried about his injury history. And if it's not fully healed or permanently damaged/weak, the team doctor for the Magic will certainly spot it and fail the physical.

Here's a video of his original injury. Gerald Wallace crashed straight into his knee.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZZwCMggYgc

The injury was such a fluke, I think it's unfair to call him "injury-prone".

if the deal happens, all i can do is hope for the best outcome from it. but i would want that future 1st included in the deal with 5 year protection at most.
