Re: Kapono
i would say its him or iguodala that goes. I think they are not finding good return value for Thad.
Its probably going to be kapono for a big unless someone overwhelms for Iguodala.
They talked foster before..but Indy drafted a bunch of SF so that may be out.
Keep an eye out fo Nazr Mohammad or Dan Gadzuric.

Please tell me we aren't going to get another big guy who can't play defense.

Re: Kapono
kapono isnt worth much...and we are overloaded at SF.....its just gonna be a SF for center..mediocre for mediocre trade if its kapono. Most likely a guy who expires at end of year like kapono. If you are looking for a big bang trade...it would have to be Iguodala but they arent convinced they want to trade him after listening to the offers.

Re: Kapono
If nothing else they might get an 'energy' big out of this, when healthy Gadzuric fills that niche and his contract expires this year I believe. Unless they can get a good young defensive center, they might as well move Kapono for a 10-15 mpg energy and effort guy and simply see what they have in Hawes and Speights this year, and Jason Smith too I guess.
End of the bench for end of the bench, its not like Collins is actually going to play Kapono and his complete lack of defense this year anyway. I'd at least like a guy that is going to push our young bigs around in practice the way Reggie used to. Towel waving technique is important as well. Foster would have been a nice pickup for Kapono, I like his effort.
No use moving Thad or Iggy if their value is too low, might as well see how they both do, though I don't see the two of them both being here after the trade deadline.

Do you think they're over valuing Thad, I see him sixth or seventh that can average 12 to 15 a game.

Re: Kapono
Its interesting that the Clippers want Kapono. For 2 reasons:
1. Kapono seems to make the most sense for a contender
2. They have nothing to offer for Kapono. Everyone on their roster has trade restrictions. Gordon, Davis, Griffen and Kaman are their only tradable assets. Unless they are considering just absorbing kaponos salary for a low contract player like Deandre Jordan.
I dont get it for the kings either. If they wanted Kapono why not include him in our original deal earlier this summer.
I would think the most interested teams would be a team like Boston, who lost house and sheed, or Utah who lost Kyle Korver

Re: Kapono
If they can make an unbalance trade (less money coming back) it would push the Sixers further under the tax to the point where they could use some of the MLE.
Are there any FA's worth targeting in th 3-4M range? It seems like the Sixers roster is pretty packed- with quantity if not quality

Re: Kapono
How about Przybilla? I know he's coming off an injury, but I think he's going to be ready for the season.
If Oden proves he's healthy and will be ready for the season Joel won't get any playing time behind him and Camby. They might need a shooter after dealing Webster (assuming Babbit isn't ready to contribute and with rumors of Fernandez wanting out). Joel is known as a very good rebounder so he would seem to fit here.

Seriously, Kapono has been floundering on our bench at a huge price tag. He's our 4th biggest salary this year behind Brand/Iggy and the venerable Nocioni. If Minnesota offered to absorb him for nothing, I have no doubt we would do it in a heartbeat. I just don't get this ESPN insider revelation, complete with a list of possible teams interested despite not actually expressing an interest:
Clippers like Tmac, so maybe they want Kapono? Seriously???
Maybe its just a lead up to: "Sixers willing to listen to offers for Brand"

Re: Kapono
tk76 i think you are correct. I did think about the NAzr deal.i think they would rather do a dump for a year and then sign someone they might really want. Kapono is a good chip to have since he does give value to a team that wants to make a run. But he is only a one year hit. So he is worth the gamble for a vet team.
