Andrew Bynum Postpones Knee Surgery
He's postponing it, was supposed to be July 18. Is this guy crazy!? Why didn't he just have surgery as soon as the season ended so he can be recovered fully by the time training camp starts (in case it takes awhile to heal from surgery)? This just annoys me that he waited and continues to wait to have it done. Does anybody understand the reasoning behind this?

I haven't heard any details, but I'd guess he just wants to wait longer to allow the knee to rest/heal after all of the fluid drains and pounding it took. His waiting a little longer is a non-issue.

Surgery today is not like in the 1980's or 1990's. Recovery time is much faster and they do not have to do as much to repair the knee as in years before.
August, September, October and even part of November he can recover. If it takes longer than those 4 months. Then there is a real problem.

He got hurt on "company" time and he's going to heal on company time........that said it's not a type of surgery where they have to cut the knee. He'll be OK.

Guys on the verge of AllStar-hood like Bynum need to spend each offseason adding something new to their game. This is not as major as his past surgeries... and recovery time shouldn't take the rest of the offseason plus preseason.
HOWEVER, it shows that Bynum has officially labeled this 'the offseason of knee surgery'. Now, i for sure don't see him adding anything to his game.

Re: Andrew Bynum Postpones Knee Surgery
Bynum has a history of taking longer than projected to recover from injuries/surgery. Given that, I had hoped he would address his surgery earlier.
Frantik is right: this is going to be an off-season of just recovery from surgery, adding nothing to his game.

Imagine having to have like 3 surgeries a year, that would seriously suck

Re: Andrew Bynum Postpones Knee Surgery
Bynum's primary focus since he came into the league has been his body. He came in skinny, he buffed it up, then he started slimming it down and fine tuning it en route to D12 status. Every season media day, he would have us saying "oh shiat!"
Anyway... I was hoping he would continue with it and show us something better AGAIN, as he has done every offseason because the better the body, --> the better the reaction time, -->the lesser the chances of injury. I think he's giving up on all that. This is what happens after guys transition into the fat contract (from 2 mill to 12 mill+ en route to 16 mill)... they start postponing $hit, and they forget about making time to continue to develop.
LO does the same ****. When was the last time that guy came to TC with something new added to his repertoire?
I understand guys gotta have a vacation. So i'm not gonna get on him for not getting to it right away. But i'm mad that the he went as far as to even entertain the reification of the notion of postponement. WTF Bynum!

Re: Andrew Bynum Postpones Knee Surgery
Bynum was never skinny. He was chubby as heck in the McDonald's all american game. He did tone down and add upper body strength by the end of his 2nd season though.

I remember hearing he was going to "consider" shoulder surgery. But if he's trying out for Team USA and he makes the 12 man team, I doubt he'll have time to recover before the regular season starts.
Maybe the doc's told him it wasn't necessary?
Thank you, Phil.
