Browns Acquire DT Shaun Rogers

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Fri Feb 29, 2008 8:56 pm

A league source tells Booth Newspapers that the Browns will acquire DT Shaun Rogers from the Lions in exchange for CB Leigh Bodden and a 2008 third-round pick.
Beat writer Tom Kowalski notes that "details are still shaky," but we've confirmed that despite past deals, the Browns do still have their 2008 third-rounder and can trade it. Bodden would be a huge score for Detroit, which is desperate at cornerback. If this deal goes through, they'll be desperate at nose tackle. Also, Bodden will almost certainly want a new contract.

Troubled, but talented

Which means he is a perfect fit for the Bungles.

For the 4-5 weeks of the season where he's in shape and motivated he is the best defensive lineman in the NFL, certainly the most disruptive. But if Rod Marinelli couldn't motivate him I hate to think how he'll react to Marvin Lewis.

Even if he is motivated I do not believe he is the best interior lineman in the NFL.

I think a motivated Haynesworth and Kevin Williams is better than him.

Icness, do you think this is better than the Kris Jenkins deal? They both appear to be the same price (3rd and 5th rounders), but Kris Jenkins seems to get injured every year for like 3 years now, plus i think hes older right?
Im surprised they went for the same price.

Damn. Good move for the Bengals, although the question of motivation is a big one.

I'd imagine Cincy sticks with a 4-3 defense but seriously looks at a DE. This leaves the DL at Geathers/Rogers/Peko/Smith-draftee-FA. Not bad.

I was hoping we could nab him, good move for Cincy.

Change title to Cleveland.

That can't be right, they just traded for Corey Williams. Since they run a 3-4, I don't see why they'd add both of those guys.

Corey Williams is not a run stopper but a pass rusher, I would expect him to be moved to DE in the 3-4

Running a 3-4 is the reason why they got both of them. Corey WIlliams is a DE in a 3-4 system and SHaun Rogers will be the NT.

I am probably the only here that think Rogers is overrated and he is nothing but a fat unmotivated player who played very poorly last year against the run.
