Wesley Matthews Thanks Jazz and its Fans

Post#1 » by Shem » Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:10 am

Wesley Matthews has his press conference to announce his signing with the Blazers today, but I thought some of you Jazz fans wouldn't mind hearing him thank your organization:

http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazer ... esley.html

He thanks the Jazz and you fans in the first minute and a half so after that if that is all you wanted to see, you can stop the video to save you some time.

Keep in mind this video is not to rub the signing in your face, so please no comments about that. My intent is for those who would be interested in hearing Wesley's words. If you don't like it, please don't comment. Thanks in advance. :D

"If you don't like it, please don't comment." Really? Come on now, put your big boy pants on...

What I found interesting in this--besides the fact that he spent so much time talking about the Jazz at his Portland press conference--is that he backed off his earlier comments condemning the Jazz for "not making an offer". He now said the only offer he saw was the qualifying offer. Everything else was between the Jazz and his agent.

He must have talked with his agent and got the story straight and realized that he was not party to the negotiations that did take place and it is best not to burn bridges more than he did. I still get the feeling that he really wanted to return to the Jazz and is a bit hurt that it didn't work out. He also sounds like he isn't thrilled to be coming off the bench in Portland when he was the starter in Utah. He spun it as he is going to work hard to reach his goal of gaining a starting spot. He claims his goal wasn't the money--but he is stepping back basketball-wise from where he worked his way to last year and starting up the mountain again in Portland. Cest la vie...

Wesley wont forget the Jazz. Here's to hoping he becomes a great player in Portland and then signs with us again when he's in his prime....

Like I said, I wish him luck..... Just not against us.......

I think he's going to have a solid career, but I doubt he's going to live up to his paycheck backing up Brandon Roy........

Return to Utah Jazz
