Spurs made a contract offer to Raja Bell
Spurs tried to acquire Raja Bell, made him a contract offer. This is from the interview with Utah.

Would've been a good fit. Got 3 years 10 mil from Utah. We can't match that offer anyways.

Guy when where the money is so you can't blame him for that. He will be a good fit for Sloan's system but damn is Utah cold.

It looks like the Spurs also offered the full MLE to James Jones???

Jones accepted the $1 million veteran's minimum this season, the newspaper reported. He will also be paid the $1.5 million buyout sum he is owed for the upcoming season. Jones, the Sun Sentinel reported, had been offered the $6 million mid-level exception by the San Antonio Spurs.

Jazz can have him. When the thing you're most famous for is almost decapitating Kobe, that's probably a sign you're not a great baller. We don't need him.

That makes no sense. First how could the Spurs offer him the MLE when Splitter got 3.4 mil of it. Second no way Spurs offered him the full MLE prior to seeing where talks with Splitter went.
We might have offered him the remaining 2.3 mil of our MLE but nothing more. Dude isn't that great of a player.
I wouldn't have been all that excited if we picked him. Having said that we need to re-sign RJ and pick up some vet wing before everyone is gone...even the bums and so-so guys.

Bell would have been nice, but Matt Barnes is the guy I want and have wanted since the offseason started.

So why haven't we made any progress on picking up a wing? Is Barnes not interested in playing here? I figured if we offered him the remaining of our MLE then he'll sign.

Thats what I thought too. But it seems either Barnes or the FO doesn't think the same way.

Well, seems like Matt Barnes is getting 2 year 10 mil to play for Toronto. That explains why.

Re: Spurs made a contract offer to Raja Bell
Any news about another SF?
Or we are going to rely on Hairston, Temple and Gee?
When is RJ re-signing (if he does it)?

Re: Spurs made a contract offer to Raja Bell
I really don't know who else is available that's any good right now at SF. Even Raja Bell, as good as he is, is a natural SG listed at 6'5''. What we need is a SF. Not another SG.
first and foremost, I think we need RJ back. He's still better than nothing at all. After that, even if we can't sign anybody to back him up, atleast we can move Manu to play part time SF like we did last year.

Sounds like that deal has fallen through and Barnes is still available. C'mon RC make him an offer.

Re: Spurs made a contract offer to Raja Bell
That sucks... however, I will say that even if we got Barnes, it's not likely that puts us at the same talent level as the Lakers. I have no delusions of beating the Lakers so if it's the Lakers getting better right now, I really don't care. Better to me than teams like Houston/OKC/Portland getting better. I'd rather fight for 2nd seed than fight for 8th seed. The NBA is now just LA.. and everyone else. Well maybe Miami.
