Jason Taylor to Pack?
I have no idea how credible this source is. To be honest I've never even seen the site before but I thought I'd throw this on the table because I was excited about it.

Basically exchanging corey williams for jason taylor in retrospect. Jenkins could move back to DT and add more depth there or we could keep him on the edge and trade kgb for some draft picks. Parcells is aggressively rebuilding the dolphins, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Taylor was shopped. I know I'd be 100% for it. Our pass rush would be elite. The only question is will TT surrender draft picks for an older player who probably only has a couple quality years left in the tank?

It is interesting how veteran guys like this go for relatively lower draft picks once the trading team decides it is time to part ways......
I think he makes about $7.5mm a year....and $8mm next season....a Dolphins writer speculated that he could be had for a second rounder for sure but possibly just a third round pick.
If TT could pull this off for a 3rd round pick I'd be all over it.....move Cullen back inside to replace Williams then you've still got a great four man inside rotation with Jenkins, Pickett, Jolly, Harrell. Use Kampman, Taylor and KGB on the outside.

If my roster has Kampman and Jason Taylor on it, I don't see a lot of room for KGB. I would prefer to pick up a player that is a beast on special teams and a solid backup than pay the 6.15.

Parcells said today Taylor is going nowhere.
Having said all that, there is no way in hell I give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for a defensive end who will be 34 years old by the time he plays next season. I would much rather keep the pick and draft a Groves or someone of that ilk to play the position. This is not an old mans game, Taylor talked of retirement a year ago, I would trade nothing sooner than perhaps a 5th rounder.

I'd retire if I played for the dolphins too. It doesn't matter what Parcells says. If the price is right he'll pull the plug. And yeah you're right, a year ago he did talk about retirement. I also believe it was a year ago in which he won defensive player of the year. If you can get a hall of famer for a third round pick who plays a premium position like Taylor you make the deal. It would sort of resemble the Reggie White trade of the 90's except taylor is a little bit older. I think Taylor has plenty left in the tank. Look at the guy, he's in top shape. Do the damn thing TT.

When you're a contender KGB is a very nice insurance policy to have in case of injury. He'd be a hell of a guy to bring in to give the other guys a rest. Our D-Line was better at the begininng of the year when Cole and Jolly were healthy and we could rotate guys in-and-out.

Why do you care KGB makes 6 million?
We already are around 20 plus million under the cap and we all know Thompson isn't going to spend that in free agency, so what's the point in dumping KGB to save money?
You'd dump one of our best pass rusher to save cash we don't have any need to save? What's the good it does for the team to enter the season an extra 6 million more under the cap on top of what we'll already be under the cap?
Then if the team is having trouble getting pressure on the QB or an injury hits, we can at least say, hey we are 10-15 million under the cap though!!
Yay

1.) We aren't trading for Jason Taylor. TT doesn't trade picks for players, he trades players for picks. And he doesn't trade a player who is getting better every year and under 30 for a pick, then trade that pick for a declining player over 30.
2.) IF we did get Taylor, their would be plenty of time to spread around between Taylor/KGB and Kampman. KGB is not an every down dlineman anyways and Cullen could be moved to DT with the loss of Corey and question marks over Harrell (production) /Jolly (health).
3.) I agree about KGB's salary, the contracts are so bad that if we were to cut him he would get paid tons more by another team. Don't be shocked if Franks gets more or equal to what we were giving him.
The money is burning a hole in the GM's pockets and we are better off with this GM doing what he is doing, building through the draft and keep the key starters.

ROGERS TO BROWNS A DONE DEAL
According to Hondo Carpenter of SpartanNation.com, who as we understand it is very well plugged in as to the goings on in Motown, the Lions have finalized a trade of defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to the Browns.
In return, the Lions reportedly will get cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round draft choice.
Carpenter says that the league office rejected a trade that would have sent Rogers to the Bengals for a third-round and a fifth-round pick.

Interesting moves by the Browns
The were 10-6 last year with a very productive offense, but a struggling defense, particularly a pass rush that only totaled 28 sacks on the season.
They chose the route of proven players over draft choices. I like the move of Williams for them and they had tons of cap room to sign him, 27 million under the cap prior to the trade. Rogers is a much bigger risk given his poor work ethic, but if the Browns can get him to change his way, their poor DT situation could quickly become a strength. If he stays unmotivated, they lit a third round pick on fire.
It's gonna be a boring draft for Browns fans if Anderson stays given they have now trade their 1st/2nd/3rd round picks.

Very strange.
However, I would really like to line up a Corey Williams/Shaun Rogers D-Tackle combination. I think that could help them a lot with getting over the hump on defense.

Just had a thought....Cleveland plays the 3-4, is Willaims projecting as a 313lb DE?
I think he looks like a good 3-4 defensive end. I don't think he could play nose or 3 technique without getting exposed.
I think that Rogers could be a boom/bust pickup for the Browns. I don't know if I like them trading their #1 cornerback in the trade though.

I think Williams is very underrated by many Packer fans
As for him playing DE in a 3-4 defense, i think he could be very effective in that role. He has the size required for a DE that defense against the run and he has pass rush ability. Obviously he's not big enough of a fat body to play nose tackle in a 3-4 or a 4-3 for that matter.
I'm not sure though what defense they intend to run this year, but Romeo Crennel has run a 3-4 in NE and with the Browns.

Big, athletic DEs are what you want in that scheme.
I think CW is perfect for the 3-4 scheme as a DE. It will accentuate his strengths (pass rush, quick moves past OL) and better hide his weakness (not able to hold point of attack as well as you'd like). DEs have more run responsibilities in that scheme than ours, but its nothing like being a 4-3 DT in our system.
I bet he plays really well for them and justifies the trade and the contract.

The Jason Taylor thing is probably just a big rumor.....but this team could use a big time veteran in the lineup IMO.......
You don't have to compare him to Reggie White.....just compare him to Sean Jones who was a huge factor for us. I still blame Jones and Keith Jackson slightly for our second SB loss since those guys decided to retire after the first Super Bowl. You could see in that game our guys getting winded and outclassed by Denver. Sean Jones would have calmed those guys down and made the plays when they needed to be made.
I see Taylor as the same type of guy. I'd go for it. We have the cap room to handle this guy for the next two years.
TT has proven to be such a good drafter that he's got plenty of other draft picks to work with this offseason.
