Re: Getting Paul means Okafur too
Okafor does not work in D'Antoni system, especially with Amare getting all the pick & roll action with Paul. He is a not a FIT for this system, and he has a terrible contract.

I saw some post we havent seen what Felton can do in this system.Well imagine CP3 in this system. End of Discussion. When you can get the best or 2nd best pg in the league who's 25 years old, you do it.Period.He had the 2nd most triple doubles in the league, and is a tenacious competitor and Defender. Some fans Baffle Me.And then I see a post where some1 says he'd actually would rather give up Amare to get Cp3 than other pieces.....This is some of the most ridicilous stuff ive heard.Amare is by FAR our best player.Do you really think Cp3 2would want to come to NY without Amare.Amare is the reason we have anyshot at getting another star player, and I dont want to hear about what player on the team has potential, Amare is a proven All Star and a Proven Force and Arguably the best PF in the league, even with his flaws(which almost every player in the league has flaws). All of a Sudden people are satisfied and falling in love with players that havent proved anything. We didnt get Lebron,so now people are content with being a 6th, 7th or 8th seed? We can offer a Deal better Than Portland's without ruining our roster. You give Me Amare and CP3 motivated to bring NY back to the fore front, and an above average supporting cast, and I'll take my chances agaisnt anyteam in the League. Then Next year we can see what we can do about getting Melo.
you are thinking it will be just one of our prospects.. the hornets are going to want at least 2 or three players.. chandler, gallo, AR, a combo of both will be gone... You need depth to win.. A lot of people are wetting their pants over paul, but we are in a tough position. we just signed felton and can't move him.. and while I think paul is the better player no doubt, is he better than felton and two of our prospects? that is the key.... only in NY do we beg for a young team with propects and are also willing to give them away as soon as a big name player uses our name for leverage... the knicks are going to need a rotation of 8 solid players to be good... end of story.. gutting our team to get 1 player in here is ridiculous at this point..

why does everyone on here think that it has to be just the knicks and the hornets and trade partners. There can be a third or a fourth team in that scenario. You just got to be creative guys. This is real GM not not real fan so put on your GM caps and scour the salary committments of teams that have expiring contracts, that have a need we may have and get to work. I have proposed the Pacers and Grizzlies as two possible trading partners I don't know what the dynamic of the deal is but you can try to be creative.

Would definitely not need to give up Gallo AND AR.
I agree..
Alligator Arms has proven nothing.
Batum is still a prospect buried on that bench
Pryzbilla is a piece on a good team
Andre Miller is a upper echelon no-nonsense starter
Miller is 34 years old. what good is he to a rebuilding team.
And I would gladly take Okafor if it meant keeping Gallo. I think Gallo fits better with Paul and Amare than Melo anyway, so why not take a defensive C, we probably lose Randolph in the trade so getting some shotblocking back wouldn't hurt.
Randolph also wouldn't start with Amare and Gallo because of Amare wanting to play C which would limit his minutes. We could start Okafor/Amare/Gallo which would be a more balanced frontcourt.

It may however be required as it shows a willingness to deal, and it says we are here to play ball let's get this done. It does not say they will give everyone just that everyone is on the table.
I have my reservations but adding Paul could be a major win for us.
Here is the thing, teams like the Hornets and some other franchises have good scouting.. they have to. when you don't have money and revenue to burn like NY does, you have to be more frugal and smarter with your choices... the Hornets are not stupid. they Are looking at talent like Gallo and AR.... they feel they would be giving up the best PG in the NBA, they want primo prospects.. Not just 1 prospect.... I just see something bad happenning here... I don't like it..
Just for face saving, they'd request both Gallo and Randolph. AR wouldn't even be the NYK's to trade out, if GS weren't already giving up on him.

really.. I agree...if melo is still in play, you can get him and then that will make losing some of our prospects easier to stomach.. but gutting the team so amare and paul can play batman and robbin will be a recipe for many first round exits...

John Hollinger on ESPN Radio said he see Orlando as a likely candidate and pretty much cancelled out the Knicks.
Chris Broussard was on SportsCenter and was asked what jersey he sees CP3 wearing at the beginning of the season and he said "Portland has alot, BUT Orlando is right there with them in the Drivers seat"
Interesting!

Um......the main reason they would trade Paul is to get rid of Okafor's contract. Just because he wants to play here doesn't mean we don't have to take a bad contract with him.

GS didn't "give up" on AR. They had to include him in the deal if they wanted David Lee and his 20/12/4 over there since they didn't have capspace to sign him outright. Walsh wanted him because he knew that there were a lot of league wide interest in the guy.

We can only hope. Also, Dwight and Paul can help knock off the unholy trio.

Interesting!
New Orleans IF they decide to trade Paul is certainly going to field offers from around league regardless of Paul's preferred short list of teams. I'm afraid a bidding war will develop upping what it will take from the Knicks to acquire him.

Good - because then we know that he didn't really want to play in NY. I'm tired of these players turning themselves into GMs, and trying to dictate the rosters of teams. I now want to see the owners lock out the players, and restore a sense of order to the game. It's a privilege to be made a millionaire while playing a game.
I agree.. this is getting ridiculous.. and I know the owners are watching this and not liking it at all.. I find of find it ballsy that paul is asking for a trade to a team that just signed a FA PG in felton to start.. jeez these guys are so full of themselves..

Sometimes the best trades you make are the ones you don't.
I'm okay if we don't get Paul this season.

I dont know if we'd have to take Okafor. He is there only long term contract besides Paul and there only C. So its not like they are in salary cap hell.
I think we'd have to take Posey before Okafor which hurts 2011....

I can see that, because what center would we send back, Curry even though his contract comes off the books next year.

Kinda like when the Arizona GM turned down Cano as part of a Randy Johnson deal. I can't imagine how much heat Cashman would be taking today if Cano had become the kind of player he's become in Arizona...

This organization has some serious leaks. how does something like this get out to the public? i know it's Berman, but this is getting ridiculous. it shows no loyalty to the young guys like Gallo and Chandler. players who are CURRENTLY on this team
but just like Redman and Method Man say..WHATEVER MAN!!!
