Joe and Crawford had been settling for long 2's all season long. They didn't start taking them only in the playoffs. Our offense was no different in the playoffs. Woodson got terrible production out of his players because his entire offensive philosophy stops working at about the middle school level, given equal talent.

Coaches can't make decisions for players, but they can put them in positions to succeed or fail. Do you not remember Mike Bibby yelling at Woodson for putting Josh Smith on the perimeter and then telling Bibby not to pass to him? A refresher:

"If you don’t want me to throw to him put him somewhere else,” Bibby shouted. “He’s wide [@*&$%] open. Wide open. What do you want me to do? If you don’t want him shooting that then put him somewhere else. You tell him."

You're writing off Teague's ability to create when no one has shown the ability to stay in front of him. Does he overpenetrate? Sure. That's a learning pain young PGs go through. You can be a PG in this league and never be able to shoot. There's a whole book full.

I'm writing off teagues ability to create for others because he couldn't even do it in college- he had a terrible assist to turnover ratio. Teague is a combo guard who can't shoot- thats not someone I will project to be a starter in the league. I just have no reason to think those are skills that he has.

I think the new coach is going to have just as hard a time figuring out what to do with Josh Smith in the half court. I think he is going to end up handling the ball even more out there with predictable results.

I think that Woodson got remarkable production out of the players he was given to work with. I think its pretty predictable that when the Hawks offense with more motion isn't nearly as good as last year then you guys will come up with all sorts of excuses why Woodson still shouldn't be given any credit for the success he had. Conversely if the Hawks do ahve a better offense I'll have no problem admitting that I was wrong. Shocking that there is absolutely no result that you could see that would make you question whether you were right or not.

And like I said, Jeff Teague has a decent AST/TO ratio in the pros, which is what matters.

Teague: 2.44
TP rookie year: 2.21
TP career: 2.24
Monta Ellis last year: 1.40
Monta Ellis career: 1.57

Neither TP nor Monta can shoot well either.

It seems like you're the one making up the excuses for Woodson, based entirely on our regular season offense which, unfortunately, means close to nothing. If in the playoffs we again are in the bottom 25% in terms of offensive efficiency and barring some catastrophic injury (e.g. Al Horford's leg snaps in half and we start Zaza), I will be glad to admit I was wrong. I highly doubt that you will own up to being wrong, seeing as even now you won't admit that we had a BAD offense. You realize the only offenses we were better than in the postseason were Miami (Wade-on-five), Charlotte, OKC (too much Westbrook/Durant-on-five), and the Bucks (sans Bogut) right?

Azur- the difference is that you seem to expect the Hawks to be a top 10 offense and that by finishing 11th or 12th on offense it means that the team was underperforming. I think that you will see this season the Hawks personnel under a differnt coach puts the offense outside of the top 10.

I don't think the Hawks had a bad offense for the personnel- I think they had flawed personnel which makes the offense look bad. And under a new coach I think that you will get the evidence of that even though you will choose to ignore it because it doesn't fit with what you want to believe. The Hawks did play terribly in the playoffs and they quit on Woodson- I don't think Woodson should have been brought back. But that said I can recognize the things that Woodson did well and recognize where the Hawks are likely to take a step back.

lets cut the crap. this team likely wont make it out of the first round this year. so playing for the present is fail.

the only way the hawks ever. EVER have a chance of going past the second round now that theyve locked up the same core for the next century with the JJ signing. is if they finally devolop one of their guard draft picks.

start teague and sink or swim with him. you know how far bibby will take you and starting him just slows down the devolopment of the younger guys

Why do the hawks have to sink or swim with Teague? Its obvious that he can't play so ship him outta here and throw in Marvin and get someone else. Just because you draft a guy doesn't mean that you have to put the house on him. Teams draft sucky players all of the time, the difference is the good teams quickly realize the mistake and correct it whereas the Hawks would rather hold on to a subpar player rather than admit that they made a mistake.

And you know this because he had so much playing time last season to prove his suckiness right?
