Packers Over/Under Wins: 9 1/2

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Tue Jul 13, 2010 1:17 pm

Here are the tops teams:

San Diego 11
Indy 11
New Orleans 10.5
Dallas 10
Minnesota 9.5
New England 9.5
Green Bay 9.5

I don't see how you don't take the over.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yeah I don't know how you don't take the over either. Almost makes me want to throw some money down and I'm not even the gambling type.

I haven't had a chance to check it out myself (the above numbers are from BoDog I think) but I believe it's -155 to take the over. That's the problem with some of these numbers, it's not a straight -110 on all of them. You have to look at the exact odds you are getting.

I might be a little pessimistic, but I don't think the Packers schedule looks that easy. The only cupcakes they have on their schedule this year are Det twice and Buf. The Bears seem improved and they usually play hard against GB. Wash is a weaker team, but it is in DC. Atl is also on the road. Then the rest of the games are against potential playoff teams. Maybe not SF until they get their QB situation straightened out.

Yeah right now it looks tough. But there are always surprise teams that do better than expected and worse than expected.

I wouldn't take this bet. Our schedule is pretty tough.

I expect us to win 10-12 games, but not enough so that I would bet on it.

Same. I expect us to go over. Not necessarily way over, but I'd be surprised if at the end of the season we had 9 wins or less. It is a tough schedule, but I also expect us to be able to win some of those tough games.

I'm surprised the Vikings are only at 9 1/2 as well. At times last year they were pretty dominant, and while I fully expect to beat them atleast once this year I think they'll still win 10-12 games.

I think it may be at 9.5 because Favre isn't officially back. If he were to announce he is officially coming back i'm sure it would jump up to 10.5.

Definitely the AFC and NFC East factor.

-155 means they have a feeling we are a good team and a good team could get over. Therefore, they aren't paying out much for that possibility.

But when you consider Atlanta and San Fran are solid teams, and 7 of the 8 games in the AFC/NFC East are against a team that is good or has potential to be good, there is not much room for error.

I wouldn't be on this, even though I'll be predicting 11 wins for the upcoming season. NFL is just way too fickle, and I think the NFC is more balanced this year than last, in addition to us having a pretty tough schedule.

It's interesting how they set these lines. It's 9 1/2 wins but the over is -155. They could have put it at 10 and -110.
