Chris Paul
This doesn't seem to have come up in nay of the threads so mods, if this is superfluous, please kill it
If not -
what would we offer to bring him here? What *could* we offer?
Sucks to have Nash and Goran and be considering Paul, because one or both would need to go.
I love Steve but the FO would have to consider moving him, and he would likely be a nice draw in NO

Re: Chris Paul
Doesn't Paul have a list of teams he wants to go to?
The best we could offer is probably something along the lines of Nash, J-rich's expiring, Lopez, Clark, and a couple picks for Paul and Okafor.
Nash can split the minutes 50/50 with Collison and eventually mold him into the Hornets' future point guard.
Lopez is a young big with potential.
Richardson is a big expiring - gives cap relief
Clark was a lottery pick who could thrive with minutes.
Paul/Dragic/Reynolds
Childress/Dragic
Hill/Dudley
Turkoglu/Warrick/Lawal
Okafor/Frye
Does that make us better in anyway?
New Orleans would be
Nash/Collison
Thornton/Head/Posey
Richardson/Stojakovic/Wright
West/Clark/Songalia
Lopez/FA
They build around Collison/Thornton/Clark/Lopez and their future picks
AND THEN... Paul ditches us in 2011, and we're stuck with Okafor and Hedo's horrible contracts with no picks.

CP has a list and even if he goes beyond it he wants to play for a contender...I doubt we can bring him in unless we're gonna put him next to a big name.

I brought this up only because Nash himself said, if the Suns had a chance to trade for CP, he would expect to pack his bags.
But yeah - I think the likeliest is NY taking on Okafor's deal and sending out whatever else it takes.
CP and Stat, that's a good start

Re: Chris Paul
from ESPN/H. Abbott
Tis the season to mess around with Chris Paul in the trade machine. The teams he'd reportedly like to play for are the Mavericks, Knicks, Blazers or Magic.
The general thinking is that if you want to get Paul, you'll have to take on Emeka Okafor's big deal too. It's not easy to make that happen, while keeping enough talent to make Paul still want to come to your team. (Here's one attempt, just for fun.)
On the internet today, fans of those four teams are fussing about whether this or that package would work.
There is a lot of hemming and hawing.
Here's a rule of thumb I've developed to help you through it: If you're getting Chris Paul, it's a good deal.
There are a two exceptions:
LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade and Kevin Durant are more valuable than Paul. (Some people prefer Deron Williams, but that's moot -- that trade is not happening anyway.) You can make a case for a few other guys that a few other players are more productive than Paul -- like Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, or Dirk Nowitzki, for instance -- but the age discrepancy is massive in those cases, making Paul far more likely to lead you to titles between now and retirement.
I would not trade anything good at all for Chris Paul if I thought my team was not going to contend with him, which certainly seems to be the key to getting him to re-sign in two years. For this reason, I would not, for example, hand over all of the good young players and picks from a team like the Thunder or Blazers. You have to have enough left to win a lot, or there's no point.
What prompted this, however, was hearing some Knick fans obsessing over whether or not they'd be willing to part with Danilo Gallinari.
Believe me, I am enamored with the power of a 6-10 guy who can shoot the lights out and plays very hard. But remember how the highlight of his career to date was dueling against Carmelo Anthony for a quarter? Paul wins battles like that night in and night out, and he's young too.
We're talking about Chris stinking Paul! Don't overthink this!
I'm saying this as a Blazer fan with no desire whatsoever to denigrate Brandon Roy. I get that Jameer Nelson has done a lot for the Magic and is a special leader off the court. Of course I recognize the powers of Nowitzki.
It's just that because of his age, position, production, leadership, toughness and skills ... Paul, to me, has more long-term value than almost every NBA player. His production matches the best of them, he's a tremendous guy off the court, and he's younger than most of his peers. So, as you're fantastizing about the trade that might bring Paul to a team near you, don't sweat the details.

Used too but after seeing all these "star" players leaving for other teams shows that Nash is a loyal guy. Even if the Suns had the chance to go for Paul though I wouldn't do it, Nash is the type of player that can play until his early 40's and already is in Phoenix and the face of the franchise. Paul on the otherhand if he demands a trade could easily do it again or pull something else if he goes to another team.

Re: Chris Paul
this is just plain stupid. The Suns roster has many problems. The ONLY position it doesn't have a prome is at point guard, so why would you even consider looking into this? I can't believe I have to explain this again, but we need Big guys who can defend and rebound. When it comes to great point guards, I think we have that one covered. It's the only thing we do.

since paul switched to Lebrons management peeps.... lebrons peeps are pulling the strings with paul, they don't want him in PHX, they want him in NY. what those bastards want they get, i don't those people involved with the suns org at all.
plus, trading nash to a sh*t team is VERY disrespectful to steve and everything he's done for the suns.

What about everything the Suns have done for him? It works both ways... Buisness is buisness. The trade aint happening either way, i'm guessing he'll end up in a Knick uni.

We'd have a good chance with Amare on the team, which is the reason Paul put Knicks on top of his list. But apparently, we are convinced that stars would flock to Suns for the weather and play with scrubs.

I agree with this, but it's extremely close and CP3 is a over a decade younger. You guys would have to do this if was an option.

I remember when a journo told Nash he was un-tradable he said something like "I'm sure if they could get Chris Paul for me they would listen!".
And he's right. We get Paul and all of a sudden we don't have such a deadline and/or desperation to get things done before Nash retires. And he's gonna be a 35mpg player for 8-10 years where as Nash will be a 25-30mpg player for the next 2-4 years.
Paul's game really reminds me of KJ's as well so I'm quite partial to him.

Re: Chris Paul
Honestly, I don't want Chris Paul. Sure he's incredible, but he seems like a real piece of crap. Now that he's under LeBron's management people, its even worse.
I'll take Deron Williams. Thanks.
