The First To Fall?

We've obviously seen some big name players change teams this summer - and with those changes come great price tags paid by owners and even greater expectations from a fan base.

Everything is rosy right now. There is that new car smell and minds race with endless possibilities with each day dream ending in a championship.

So with all these lofty pay packets and expectations, which of the big name FA's on new teams do you think the new fan base will turn on first and more importantly, why?

Miami is not a good sports town so that is not really a fair question. They have like 6 real fans. NY, Chicago and the Bay Area, those fans will turn on players very fast. But the Knicks have been run into the ground by Dolan so those fans will give Amar'e a long time and I think they will eventually surround him with enough talent. Just making the playoffs for the time being is enough to satisfy those fans.

Boozer fits in well with the Bulls and you pretty much know what you're getting with him. So that leaves us with David Lee which was a very very very curious signing. David Lee was a big part of that disaster in NY and he's never won before. He's also a really bad defensive player. I don't know how you can give a player as bad as he is on defense all that money. Nice guy and hard worker, but to commit all that money and years to him is taking a huge chance. If GS doesn't win this season, those fans will turn on D Lee fast. So my pick is David Lee only because Bosh took the easy way out.

I went with Amare.....I don't see NY winning that many more games this year, couple that with the LeBron LetDown, not to mention the frustration in the fans of them probably not getting Carmello, and I don't think they'll land CP3. There is a big difference from going to having Nash as your PG to Felts. The situation in NY could get very ugly.

I don't say James or Bosh b/c the team will do pretty good. Boozer comes into a fairly good situation with Chicago, and I think they will be one of the top teams in the east.

I don't say Lee b/c I don't think the expectations of the fans are that high, nor will the scrutiny of the Warriors be near that of the Knicks.

my vote is amare. he doesnt always play hard, doesnt rebound as well as he should, doesnt always play defense, needs a set up man to score. ny fans are smart bball fans. they know bs when they see it. they'll see right through amare.

i went with james.....two ball dominant players on the same team none of them like to play any real defense and no post play outside of bosh soft ass...all this on a team that is set to championship or bust....this could get ugly fast

I don't see any way that the Heat fans can "turn" on LeBron James. I can't even imagine the scenario that would make such a thing possible... they got the reigning MVP to play beside the hero who won them a title. What could be the downside here? LeBron would have to burn down a district in Miami or kill a hooker. I could more conceivably imagine Bosh having a horrible season and the team turning on him as a fake contributor who was dragging down LBJ/Wade. But that's still really remote.

Chicago could get upset with Boozer because he's not much of a defender, but realistically the team needs offense which he will be quite able to provide. They'll probably be a 55 win team, and then lose in the conference finals, and the season will have been a pretty good success.

That leaves Amare, who is going to a bad team, where the players could easily get angry with for not carrying them to new heights, and Lee, who is going to an embittered fanbase with a franchise that really seems to be spinning its wheels. Also he plays no defense, is white in Oakland, and is wildly overpaid.

I voted Lee, because I think that Warriors fans might just hate everybody if they're on the team too long. That's not to say they're mean fans, just that their franchise has been so torturous that they have lowered expectations (like Cubs or Red Sox fans used to be). If it's based purely on player vs. expected role, it's gotta be Amare.

I went with Amare. The whole "Nash helps make him look good with the P&R" and "he doesn't always play hard" as well as his "lack of D" along with the "he tends to say stupid things" combined with him signing with a team that isn't that good means that I think that he will be exposed pretty quickly and the Knicks fans could turn on him hard.

I also wonder about Bosh. I mean, I love Bosh but I can see his numbers taking a big hit playing next to the other two and considering the coin he is getting, that could really piss some fans off.

I almost went Bosh. But I went Amare. Agree with the Amare votes opinions from above, but I also think his knees wont hold up. Just think he's going to have more knee issues which bring down his game. When his game suffers, the Knicks fans will be relentless.

I agree with Battery, it's Lee by a far margin. They overpaid him and are stuck with his useless ass for the next 6 years. He can't defend, doesn't box out, has no postgame whatsoever. With Lee as a starter, GSW will keep sucking for the next years. But hey, he can still continue statpadding and isn't forced to play defense.

I think Amar'e will be fine in NY. He's tough, talented, and he's got the city fully supporting him I think it's Boozer. The Bulls gave up alot to get Boozer, ( Gordon, Tyrus, Hinrich, Salmons) so if Boozer has mediocre games or get's injured often, those guys will flip on him quickly. These are the same ones who gave D. Rose a hard time while he was playing with a bad ankle early this past season. Golden State fans seem very content with Biedrins who I believe has a big contract and all he does is rebound and block shots, they should get more from Lee.
