OT: Visiting the LA area again this summer

Post#1 » by SniperHawk10 » Sat Jul 24, 2010 12:02 am

I often go to visit my uncle, aunt and cousins down in LA during the summer. I am wondering what is a nice mall that i can visit this year to do a bit of shopping with my mom during a day of the week. My uncle lives about 15min away from "The Grove". Any good shopping centers that i can visit?

Yo yo yo, let me jump in here! I'm going to LA/LONGBEACH SAN DIEGO this august for a weekend, any good tips on where to eat or places to see? I'm mostly going to be in san diego though. I hear gaslamp area is a must check out...how about any unique places to eat like burritos or some great burgers or anything?

Beverly Center, Americana, Grove, South Coast Plaza are all great places to shop. In N Out is pretty good for fast food, if you want Hot Dogs try Pinks but don't be suprised if they are totally overrated.
Enjoy L.A.!

In and Out is the best fast food in the area in my opinion. Definitely check out phillipes and get the french dip, you can get a decent burrito all over the place, El Tepeyac Cafe has good ones, or just chipotle.

I don't go to malls that often, but I like westfield and the south coast plaza like was mentioned.

Other fun things, shoot hoops at venice beach, hollywood walk of fame, magic mountain, rodeo drive, and just enjoy the city for everything it has to offer. It's an experience just being here and walking the streets.

Just got back from old town (San Diego).

OT/OnT - I dont know if I posted this or not but I got to hang out with a somewhat famous guy named Bob Taylor who founded Taylor guitars. He's in a bunch of GE $Q commercials right now. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bakersfield-CA/Rosedale-Music-We-Love-Music-/115030791879871?v=photos&ref=sgm#!/album.php?aid=6603&id=115030791879871.
The guys a billionaire and not much of a sports fan but he says he knows the Lakers, like its NOT a big deal... I asked him how... his cousin is Phil Jackson. Good genes. Bobs maybe 6-3.

I spend enough money with him as a Taylor dealer, he is going to get me a a team signed ball and a PJ signed headshot made out to the store so I can have one on the wall of my acoustic room in every store.

Back to travel. San Diego is sick. Old town feels like SLO, downtown feels like up North with way more hot latinas running around and of course there is tons of theme parks and zoos.

Everyone is coping the dueling piano bars where guys entertain you, get you drunk and play music. Those are a lot of fun UNLESS you see a lot of beautiful women (4th, 5th street WOW)

LA has EVERYTHING. Long Beach is clean again (SUBLIME) Check out the restaurant in the Queen Mary if you havent done it. They upgraded the aquarium a few years ago if its a full family thing but again its summer, you may want to just hit up the beach and see all the girls

I ate a 5 guys for the first time a few weeks ago up in Idaho. I was pretty impressed, it was really good. Fries were amazing too but that's because they were fresh Idaho spuds.

hard to say, 5 guys is good for sure... I think I still like In N Out better. My 1 to 2 trips a year to Cali just aren't complete without it :) And I'm not even a fast food fan, don't eat it often, but just can't pass up In n Out...

Best in Denver is prolly Good Times or FatBurger. Utah had this chain back in the day called Warren's that was better than any of them :)

what in n out is the the west, 5 guys is to the east.

they're starting to pop up here in socal, they have one in LA near the home depot center in carson, and one across the street from cerritos mall. looks like they're making one in orange, and there's one open in thousand oaks and temecula.

here's a testimonial about its awesomeness:

Will check it out, I'm close to the Cerritos Mall. In-N-Out still the champ in my book until I try this place.
