So Jazz fans would you...

Post#1 » by tdownwa » Sat Jul 24, 2010 3:55 pm

This is only a hypothetical but how would you feel about NO trading CP3 and Okafor to the Jazz for D-Will and Okur. I for one would not be a fan of this nor do I really thing it would happen. That said my Laker buddy who lives in Utah asked me this question and I wondered what other Jazz fans would think. Living in Denver I don't personally know a lot of Jazz fans so I'm throwing it out to the forum.

CP3 is a whiny bitch and is only going to get worse. Deron is the best PF in the league and is only going to get better. Okafor has a bad contract and so does Memo. Okafor brings defense, but that is it. Memo might still be serviceable as a long range big, which would be killer with AJ on the floor.

Long term this makes no sense. Short term this makes no sense.

Deron is better than Paul for our system, and Memo is much better than Okafor.

no thanks.

I would say a big NO as well. It doesn't make the Jazz the favorite to win the championship which is the direction they should be trying to go. Doing this trade they take a player that is not as good a fit within the system and a bad contract of Okafur's. Okur's ends in 2 years and is less money then Okafur's contract.

Would anybody do a AK and Okur for Paul and Okafor? I am sure that NOH won't want that but hypothetically speaking would anybody want both Paul and Deron on the same team together?

I would do it only considering what we could get for Paul. I don't think they would work all that well together, and that's two very large contracts that would be pretty much parallel.

Given the type of guy Chris Paul turned out to be, it would shake my fandom to see him in a Jazz uniform.

I think it would not be such a great thing to have them both playing on the same team. Also with the way Paul is acting it could cause chemistry problems. So I probably would say no to this deal as well.

CP3 puts up great stats mostly when he plays against average players, but he almost always folds whenever he plays against elite PGs (Deron, Billups, etc. always eat CP3 for lunch). That speaks volumes about CP3's mental toughness. CP3 also has trouble staying healthy. Why would any GM in his right mind take CP3 over D-Will? I think the answer is simply a resounding "Hell, no."

Swapping Deron with AK may work. Would be fun to watch!

What is that going to do for us, Trade one top franchise pg in the league for another that basically does the same thing and mess up the chemistry? All Okafor would do is make it harder for Jefferson to work inside because he isn't a shooting threat that spreads the floor.

A backcourt of Paul and Williams would be AMAZING. If the Jazz were able to pull a AK for Paul trade, it would leave NO with a payroll of just $31M for next year, or about $23M if David West opts out of his $7.5M player option. Ofcourse we're not on his wish list, but could you imagine..

Jefferson/Okur/Fes
Millsap/Evans
Miles/Hayward
Paul/Bell
Williams/Price

Oh man lol, ofcourse, it's not going to happen.
