Dynasty Full Keeper League: Rate these FAs

Post#1 » by TheExpat » Mon Jul 19, 2010 11:15 pm

I'm in a dynasty full keeper league, and the waiver draft is coming up. With all the movement there are lots of nice potential pick ups... So, I ask you to rate these guys:

Thiago Splitter (Spurs...I think I will take him with my #1 waiver, as I have Duncan on my squad)
Hakim Warrick (Phoenix)
Linus Kleiza (Toronto)
Amir Johnson (Toronto)
Ramon Sessions (if he moves)
Brandon Wright (GS)
Ronnie Brewer (Chicago)
Ilgauskus (Miami)

Appreciated...

Can't say I'm a big fan of many of these guys.

Warrick: One-trick pony. Lots of scoring, but not worth much more.
Amir: Are we on year 3 of expecting him to break out?
Splitter: long-term win, short term loss says I
Kleiza: similar one-trick pony, good 3s, but not much else.
Sessions: I'm also waiting for him to get moved...

Overall, here's my ranking, best to worst:

Wright: Simply because Randolph is gone, never know what Donnie will do with the rotation
Sessions: Because I think he'll be moved
Splitter: For long-term value
Brewer: Doesn't matter if he starts, he'll get primarily points, maybe some steals
Warrick: He'll score
Kleiza: if you like 3s
Amir: If he can actually live up to his potential
...
a stapler with a rusty hinge
Ilgaustaks: Pure role player in Miami, not worth owning.

IF he moves I'd rank Ramon Sessions (depending where he goes, Charlotte maybe) as the guy with the most trade value. Threes, points, assists. And a starting pg. BUT this since he hasnt been traded and just said he'd like to stay in Minny, I'd take Warrick, Amir, Splitter over him now. Brewer is a very nice player but I don't see him being great in Chicago who'll have more need of a shooter than Brewer playing extended minutes. Wright is injured again, shoulder again. Dude's just too skinny. Ilgauskas doesnt offer much anymore. Even as a starter in Cleveland he wasnt great anymore a while ago. Kleiza is intruiging too.

My ranks IF Sessions is traded and starts:

Sessions (drop him 6 spots if he stays put)
Tiago Splitter
Hakim Warrick (Nash might do wonders)
Amir Johnson
Ronnie Brewer
Linus Kleiza
Brendan Wright

I'm gonna surprise here I think:

Brewer. If he returns to 2008-09 form he will be the best on this list. Aside possibly from Splitter, who I know nothing about. He's somewhere between Lebron and Darko, I guess. :-P

Those are my rankings exactly... although you're missing Sessions. Sessions had that huge stretch a couple years back, but he still doesn't get you 3s, which I want in a PG (and currently don't have on my roster. Even if he gets moved, I like Splitter and Amir better.

I put Brandon Wright on the list because he is on my roster and looking to be a potential drop. I will add two of these guys and drop 2 of Bibby/Wright/Weems.

I WILL add Splitter, and hope Amir comes to me at 4.

So, which 2 do you drop... Bibby, Weems, Wright (can someone provide a link that says it is his shoulder again?)... ?

Yeah I forgot Sessions. I'd put him between Brewer and Kleiza. He doesnt hit 3's and I dont think he will be starting. (unless he lands in Indiana). If he is a back-up, I still like him for assists (should be around 4-5 per game). If he lands in somewhere where he can start (and I cant see any team he would start except Indiana ) then he probably moves to the top of the list.

I think it is safe to drop Bibby at this point. My other choice is Weems. No 3's, bad ft% and below average defensive stats. Plus Kleiza is probably a better fit next to DeDe so Weems will probably be coming off the bench.

My thinking too... Bibby was a keeper if Johnson signed elsewhere. Weems falls apart a bit with Kleiza and Barbosa coming in. Wright has too much potential if he can manage to be healthy.

Out: Bibby, Weems
In: Splitter, Johnson/Brewer/Kleiza

If Kleisa somehow gets the starting nod and good minutes, he'll be a great sleeper. Just don't count on too many ast and blks from him. Pts, a few reb and a few 3pts, and that's it. Maybe a steal a game too.

I like to project his Denver starting SF stats from 2007, although that might be too optimistic. Then again, somebody has to make up those 20 pts Bosh scored and those whatever points and touches Hedo got.

14-16 pts, 1.5 3pts, 5 reb, 1 stl and 47-49%fg. Also good for about 4 ft's against a 78-80% clip a game.

In recent times Bibby is NOT a good fantasy player, I'd definitely get him outta there.

What are the scoring categories? H2H or Roto?

Without knowing that, I'll rank standard 9 cat dynasty H2H settings.

Thiago Splitter
Linus Kleiza
Ramon Sessions
Ronnie Brewer
Brandon Wright
Amir Johnson
Hakim Warrick

The league is H2H... 8 cats... no TOs, which I agree is a little lame.

FG%, FT%, PTS, AST, REB, STL, BLK, 3PM

Sessions to Cleveland puts him up a bit in my books, but still:

Splitter
Kleiza (3s with PF eligibility is a bonus)
Johnson
Sessions
Brewer
Wright
Warrick
Ziggy

A couple other guys of interest... Daniel Gibson, Michael Pietrus, Joel Anthony, Kris Humphries, Peja, and Raja Bell.

My roster right now... I start 2 guys at PG, SG, SF, PF, and C, plus one utility guy.

PG: Calderon, Livingston, Bibby
PG/SG: Jack, Ellis
SG: DeRozan, Weems
SG/SF: Pierce
SF: Deng
SF/PF: Yi
PF: Landry, Brandon Wright
PF/C: Duncan, Amare
C: Yao, Jermaine O'Neil

Right now:
PG: Calderon or Jack (whoever starts for TO... praying Calderon gets traded to Indiana... Huge boon because I don't have to depend on my next PG starter......)
PG: Livingston (Praying he starts over DJ)
SG: Derozan (expecting big things this year)
SG: Ellis
SF: Pierce
SF: Deng
PF: Amare
PF: Landry (little nervous about him)
C: Yao (please be healthy)
C: Duncan
Util: One of these bench players...

Jack/Calderon, Bibby, Yi, Wright, Weems, Jermaine

I have waiver picks 1 and 4...

I have all but settled on Splitter with the 1st bc I have an aged Duncan (likely drop is Bibby). Sessions and Kleiza both fit my needs better, but If I take Amir Johnson at 4, I will likely try to turn some of my big man depth into a quality back court player. Any of these 3 will be nice additions (likely drop Weems).

I still like Amir Johnson over Kleiza.

Yeah.... maybe you're right.

I moved Kleiza up after Barnes fell through, but Amir probably a better asset. Kleiza fills a need better though. If you take a look at my roster, Kleiza allows me to move Pierce to SG and Ellis to one of my PG slots.

But BPA is probable the best way for me to go.

So, does Sessions top this list after the move to Cleveland?

Yep. But that's not saying much. He'll be better in a reserve role than the others are in their current roles, except, maybe, for Amir Johnson, if he gets enough run and can keep his fouls down.

IMO, Amir Johnson carried my team to my dynasty league championship last year - and one of the categories in my league is is personal fouls (I don't know why we agreed to that stupid category)

I'm amazed no one in your league picked up that guy during the playoff run last year since he was fantasy gold in April.

I'm not confident that Davis is going to be ready on day 1 - which means Amir should get 30 minutes a night. If you consider your options in dynasty leagues, you should never assume everyone on your team is going to be rostered for the long haul. You need guys that you can flip for short term stats while keeping a core of long-term players.

If Davis starts to take over, drop Amir for the hot guy at the moment. It could be Earl Barron or some D League star in Golden State... you never know... but at least be confident there are always fringe scrubs to choose from in the short term.
