Trading Calderon's going to be difficult... I think BC can pull it off though. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up.

The reason they are even entertaining the possibility of trading Paul is because they have Collison (a talented kid on his rookie deal) to take his place--Miller or Calderon would not be their longterm PG solution. If Paul goes, Collison isn't going anywhere.

Paul won't like this trade but maybe the Hornets will like the financial flexibility this gives them.

Calderon (9.9) to Indiana
Ford (8.5) to Toronto

TPE (11.7) + Miami 1st to Hornets
Okafor (11.7) to Toronto

Ford (8.5) + Evans (5) + Banks (4.7) + Belinelli (2.4) + Jones (0.8) + Toronto unprotected 1st 2012
CP3 (14.9) + Posey (6.4) to Toronto

5 expiring contracts + 2 1st rounders for Okafor + Paul + Posey
The Hornets will have only 14mil in committed salaries in 11/12 with a decent young core

BC can then negotiate with Paul to consider trading him at the trade deadline if he keeps quiet about wanting to go somewhere else. BC's reputation as a wheeler able to get complicated deals done may placate Paul for one season.

Why the hell would we add a 1st with our TPE for Okafor? Why the hell would we try to get CP3 when he won't stay after 2 years. Why the hell would Indiana trade an expiring for Jose's horrible contract.

does this have a chance?

To Toronto: Collison + Posey
To New Orleans: Hamilton + Prince + Summers + MIA 2011 1st
To Detroit: Calderon + Peja + Wright

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

I think you should give detroit the pick, I think New Orleans accepts because if they keep paul there in a win now mode and they get a good player at the 3 which they need, a good 6th man and shed posey. Detroit doesn't have to do this trade since the contracts are the same, but they get worse doing it so I don't know if they accept.

To Toronto:
Mike Dunleavy $10,561,984
Jeff Foster $6,655,000
= 17,306,984

To Indiana:
Jose Calderon $9,000,000
Reggie Evans $5,080,000
* Trade Exception (3,226,984)
= 14,080,000

I actually see Dunleavy as a very good trade-match for Calderon. Anyone else agree?

Would Indiana be willing to take on Jose's deal at that length (and with the trade kicker)? That's the question. Dunleavy = flexibility; Jose = locked in.

ok i have it.

To Toronto: Collison + Posey + Pachulia
To Detroit: Bibby + Peja + Evans + MIA 2011 1st Round Pick
To Atlanta: Calderon
To New Orleans: Hamilton + Prince

Paul
Hamilton
Prince
West
Okafor

solid team.

Det sheds Hamiltons deal for a 2012 expiring (Bibby) and get their PG hole filled. Atlanta gets a better fit how nice would Calderon look next to Josh smith.

Calderon
Johnson
Williams
Smith
Horford

is a nasty starting lineup and has potential to go very far.

Jack / Collison / Banks
Derozan / Barbosa / Belinelli
Klezia / Weems / Posey
Johnson / Davis / Dorsey
Bargnani / Pachulia / Alabi

Well New Orleans is likely to trade collison now because they play to keep Paul for the remained of his contract, and we could use a point guard such as collison who would be a terrific fit on this team.

How about a two part trade

TPE for Okafor (possible alabi throw in)

Jarret Jack (<-- won't be happy playing behind collison here) for Collison & Songaila

Maybe throw in a Miami's first.

Or for the second trade Barbosa for Posey and collison

1- is NOH more likely to trade collison or CP3?

2- i actually dont mind keeping calderon going into next season, maybe trading him at the deadline along with the TPE or something like that. but if he gets traded before the season thats good too , but i would want to get a good value in return, not a better then nothing trade to unload his contract. and maybe next offseason we could try to trade him with the TPE , that would take a year off his contract make him more tradeable. then we draft Irving or Brandon Night.

Here ya go....

Indy trades:
Dunleavy, Ford

gets:
Jose, TPE(7+ million)

Indy saves money immediately and adds a pg who will improve their offensive efficiency which is sorely needed.

Philly trades:
Iggy, Kapono, Smith

gets:
Weems, Ford, Evans, Miami pick, TPE(7+ million)

Philly sheds 7 million instantly, adds 14+ million in expirings, adds a pick and a young prospect in Weems and the Miami pick.

Toronto trades:
Jose, Evans, Weems, Miami's pick, TPE

gets:
Iggy, Dunleavy, Smith, Kapono

Toronto adds some expirings and an athletic freak on the wing who will instantly improve defense. Move leaves team with over 20 million in expirings and about 10 million under cap if Qualifying offers arent extended to Beli, Dorsey and Smith

Jack/Beli/Banks
Demar/Barbosa/Kapono
Iggy/Kleiza/Dunleavy
Amir/Davis/Dorsey
Bargs/Smith/Alabi

Minny trades:
Sessions, Hollins, Webster

gets:
Beli, West, Miami pick, Evans

Minny gets West's contract which is basically a salary dump, and adds a shooter on the wing who is also an expiring. Adds an additional pick

Cleveland trades:
West

Gets:
Sessions

Cleveland gets a pg they reportedly have interest in.

Toronto trades:
Beli, Evans, Miami pick

gets:
Hollins, Webster

Toronto adds a Sf who can shoot the ball and defend somewhat vet center who can provide a bit of depth at the center spot off the bench.

Jack/Jose/Banks
Demar/Barbosa/Weems
Webster/Kleiza/Weems
Amir/Davis/Dorsey
Bargs/Hollins/Alabi

With the drafting of Cousins and Whiteside, the Presence of Landry and Justin Thompson make Samuel Dalembert expandable.
He was aquired prior to the draft.

Reggie Evans + Markus Banks for Samuel Dalembert (all expiring)

3 way with some big contracts

NO gets: Iggy, Brand, Beli, Kapono, Evans, and Philly 1st (top 10 protected)
Phi gets: Jose, Peja, Songalia Posey, and Mia 1st
Raps get: Lou Williams, Thad Young and Okafor

big ? is whether NO takes on Brand. IMO for NO Brand > Okafor, a year shorter contract on a better offensive player. they are also taking on 6 extra mill in salary this year. is all this worth it for Iggy?
They don't lose Collison and I think Paul would like to play with Iggy

Philly I think does this, they move Brand and Williams at the cost of taking on Jose, moving Iggy, and dropping from lottery to late 20s but with Turner this opens up mins at the 2 and cuts a lot of salary starting next year. Also Jose and Holiday would be an interesting 1/2

I think the Raps do this, they get an athletic SF, a young scoring PG who would thrive in an up tempo style, they get a defensive C. They move Jose and don't use either TPE

NO and Toronto probably do it, but Philly would be left with no real sf. Raps should at least probably send out Weems to Philly.
Leaves philly with a sf rotation of Weems, Posey, Peja

They have Nocioni ,Posey and Peja which I thought was decent and vets to put beside Turner.

Do not want to move Sonny, he's showing a lot of promise and you can't buy chemistry like he has with Derozan

Also deal works with Beli going to Philly if NO doesn't want to take on the extra salary and Phily might like him

Orlando loses seldom used Gortat and Nelson, who would be redundant with CP3. Toss in a pick, because it's CP3!

New Orleans:

OUT: Chris Paul ($14.9M) and James Posey ($6.4M)

IN: Mike Conley ($4.9M), Marco Belinelli ($2.3M), Hamed Haddadi ($1.6M), DeMarre Carrol ($1.0M), 2011 ORL 1st round pick, 2011 MIA 1st round pick, $11.3M TPE (Toronto)
New Orleans gets 4 young prospects on expiring deals, as well as a huge TPE and two 1st round draft picks, while dumping James Posey's contract. Decent value after your star demands a trade.

Memphis:

OUT: Mike Conley ($4.9M), Hamed Haddadi ($1.6M), and DeMarre Carrol ($1.0M)

IN: Jose Calderon ($9.0M)
Conley is on the block and Calderon just might convince Marc "The Franchise" Gasol to resign in Memphis next year.

Toronto:

OUT: Jose Calderon ($9.0M), Marco Belinelli ($2.3M), $11.3M TPE, 2011 MIA 1st round pick

IN: Jameer Nelson ($7.8M), Marcin Gortat ($6.3M), and James Posey ($6.4M)
Toronto uses all of the TPE they are comfortable using, keeping us under the tax, and give up Miami's pick. They deal young Marco Belinelli's expiring and shed Calderon in the process to a team that could use him. Raptors could still move Banks and Evans expiring contracts for something.

2011/2012 Toronto Raptors:

Nelson/Jack/Banks
DeRozan/Weems/Barbosa
Kleiza/Posey
Bargnani/Johnson/Davis/Evans
Gortat/Dorsey/Alabi

Can someone please comment on this!! This took me awhile! haha

If it we're me I'd rather do just the Memphis part and get Conley. No need to add players with bad contracts that don't elevate the team to a perennial playoff contender

Toronto in: Mike Conley, Hamed Haddadi, Demarre Carroll
Toronto out: Jose Calderon, Joey Dorsey

Memphis in: Jose Calderon, Joey Dorsey
Memphis out: Mike Conley, Hamed Haddadi, Demarre Carroll

Toronto rids themselves of Calderon's contract and acquire a PG who's shown flashes and balances the lineup. Not sure Memphis does it though but might be intrigued by the Spanish connection between Jose and Gasol and former Memphis alumni Joey Dorsey.

Jack / Conley / Banks
Derozan / Barbosa / Belinelli
Kleiza / Weems / Carroll
Johnson / Davis / Evans
Bargnani / Haddadi / Alabi

Return to Toronto Raptors
