Odd tapouts?

Post#1 » by rico » Sat Jul 24, 2010 5:23 pm

Anyone have any videos of "odd" tapouts? I was just thinking how funny it would be to see someone tap out to 'pro' wrestling moves such as the abdominal stretch (Cobra twist), cross face chicken wing, full nelson etc.. in an MMA match. Or if anyone doesnt have any of those just some odd/unique ones would be good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeLUlk9d9W0 = #3 probably coolest/most unique submission ever. its like one of those that u will only see happen in a fight once in a decade or something.

Love the Chonan/Silva sub. The best part about that fight IMO is that everyone says how Silva was winning prior to the ridic sub but IMO Chonan was beating the hell out of Silva the whole fight.

Granted I haven't watched the fight in forever but still that's how I remember it.

I always loved the sub that Mir got on Williams. Never seen it before that fight, may never see it again. That's like winning by can opener.

I cant think of the fight its been a while but I remeber Coleman subbing sum Japanese cat by can opener in Pride, I think Monson has a Can opener sub in the UFC too. Can opener are actually illegal in a grappling match, but they hurt like crazy.

The Coleman fight was the only one I could think of. I remember reading a recent fight in the UFC where I guy attempted it, I forget who though. I don't think we'll see any actual wins by can opener though, unless it's on a complete novice on the ground (James Toney?), because to get out of it, you basically just have to open your guard.

Chris Haseman won the first two rounds of a tournament at Cage Combat 1 in 1997 by Submission (Chin to the eye).

here's one of the fights

I also remember Gary Goodridge winning a fight in Brazil by digging his feet into his opponent's trunks and ripping and squeezing his balls with his toes. Oh the lawless days...

The Can Opener/Neck Crank was used a lot back in the earlier days when there were often large weight differences between fighters.

330 lb. female fighter Svetlana Goundarenko won 3 of her 6 victories by this move, and 2 of them by the equivalent of a side headlock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG2Lf7aH ... re=related

4 Sho, Hackney was a gangsta! He actually changed his style and is a pretty successful MMA coach these days.

For those who never saw what happened to Joe Son, or forgot.

Hackney was just making sure that this never happened again!

Two thoughts:

1) It was funny listening to the first UFC announcers trying to explain to the crowd that Gracie was actually hurting Jimmerson in their exchange (despite no punches thrown or anything else).

2) Joe Son for gang rape? Who'd have thought? Weren't he and Kimo supposed to be religious nuts together or something?

I had a dream last night that I was in some MMA tournament. I had to fight two sissy religious kids who tapped as soon as the bell sounded, and my last opponent was Joe Son  that was before reading this thread too :o
