Fantasy Trade Thread

Post#1 » by thaddeusyoungin » Mon Jul 26, 2010 6:38 pm

Sixers out- Green, Young
Sixers in- Jeffries, Rockets 2011 1st round pick with NY swap

Cavs out- Varejao
Cavs in- Green, Young

Rockets out- Jeffries, Rockets 2011 1st round pick with NY swap
Rockets in- Varejao

Only problem I see with this is Houston would have a log jam at the 4 and 5 with Yao, Miller, Scola, Varejao, Hill, and Patterson and Cleveland wouldn't have a center. Maybe as part of the deal Houston could ship Hill to Cleveland for Moon and Miami's 1st round pick.

Why in the world would Houston have any interest in Varejao? They already have a logjam at PF/C without him. Makes no sense for them to trade a 1st and take on such a big contract of a player that they don't need at all.

You're right. I'm just trying to think of a way to ship Young to Cleveland and have Varejao go to a 3rd team with a pick coming back to us.

Dang, I was about to reply to something from this, and of course it is the last post to get cut off in the old one. Well here goes anyway:

Skates wrote:OKC needs to move one or more of DJ White, BJ Mullens and/or Kyle Weaver to get their roster number down to 15 or below.

SF mentioned the team liking Mullens as a developmental big man and we have roster room, room under the higher tax and a $2+ million trade exception from the Dalembert trade.

Any interest in picking up Mullens and/or one of the others for a future scond rounder? That is likely what Presti is looking for.

I'm not very high on Mullens, but for a second rounder I think he is a really great pickup. I think OKC would want a first, they took him in the first just a little bit ago. And I wouldn't go that high without a ton of protection on the pick. 2 future seconds might be a stretch, but could possibly work for me.

In terms of the other two, Weaver was supposed to be a solid defender out of college, but doesn't fit our roster. DJ White has some nice stats in the Dleague and limited time, but I cannot say I have seen him. Still, he could be an interesting flier for a 2012 2nd rounder, its not like anyone here views our pf position as set.

It seems like Thunder fans think White will be the one traded not Mullens. White for a 2nd seems fair for both teams.

Although we wouldn't have any bench, its possible (though highly unlikely) that in 2013-2014 we could have a starting line up of Jrue, ET, Iggy, Al Horford, and Dwight Howard. If ET develops into a 20-22 ppg scorer with solid defense and Jrue becomes a top 10 point guard, would we be the favorites over the Miami Heat in the 2013-2014 season? That lineup's defense would be among the all time greats imo.

This has been talked about before, but I think now is is actually realistic. Thad for Rudy. I think that could be good for both teams.

Here is another trade. There are two options depending on which player you like better, Aldridge or Millsap. I thought Aldridge was better before, but it seems like Millsap is a better rebounder and is a little more efficient.

Trade 1
Sixers - Rudy, Aldridge
Blazers - Millsap, Thad, Jazz 2nd round pick
Jazz - Iggy

Trade 2
Sixers - Millsap and Jazz 2nd rd pick
Jazz - Iggy and Smith

Does anybody know if a TPE can be used in conjunction with another TPE in a trade? Also can a player or players be packaged with a TPE?

My understand from Larry Coon's FAQ is that a TPE can NOT be combined with anything/anyone else.

As for Rudy for Thad, I would have done it a year ago but not now. Rudy continues to make noise about how he misses playing in Spain. I'm not all that concerned by his down year this past year but I do worry about trading the better player (Thad) for a guy who can/quite possible WILL bolt for Spain after his contract runs out next summer.

If we were trading for Rudy, I wouldn't part with much of anything. Maybe Jason Smith and a 2nd Rd pick.

Would anybody do Kapono for Vujacic and a 1st round pick or maybe just a 2nd?

Are the Lakers trying to get no salary back in a Vujacic trade.

I think Rudy is frustrated now, but if he could be on a team where he can start or be a 6th man that gets starter minutes I think he might want stay in the NBA.

Would anybody do a Thad for Rudy and a 1st? Portland probably wouldn't do it though, but its hard to tell since I don't know how their new GM operates.

Thad is a lot more valuable than Rudy. He's younger and better. That being said, Portland doesn't have much of a need for Thad and we don't have much of a need for Rudy. Let's see what Turner and Meeks can do first before trading for any other SG's. When one considers we still have Green, that Lou Williams gets minutes at SG, and that Iguodala sometimes gets SG minutes, there really isn't room for Rudy here. He is a good fit for the Knicks and that system.

Sixers out- Brand, Kapono, Green, Young, Smith
Sixers in- Murphy, Dunleavy, Varejao, S. Jones

Cavs out- Jamison, Varejao
Cavs in- Brand, Young, Smith

Pacers out- Murphy, Dunleavy, S. Jones
Pacers in- Jamison, Kapono, Green

I'd like something like this. We don't have to be faced with a hard decision whether to pay Thad a lot next summer and we get max cap space (or close to it?) to go after someone like Al Horford. What picks do you guys think would need to be added to make this fair for all the teams?

Pacers and Cavs would probably both want lottery picks. They both probably think they can get better packages with what they give up.

It's amazing how much the majority agrees that something is good, but then takes it back after what seems to be not a long time. Examples would be the once love for Rudy and the love for Calderon. It seems like some people go the complete opposite of what they previously thought.

Some people wanted to trade Thad for Jordan. Would anybody trade Thad for Javale Mcgee?

I think Cavs should get nothing or at most a 2nd round pick and Pacers should get a top 20 protected 1st round pick. Jamison makes pretty much the same amount as Brand, his contract is a year shorter, and he is only slightly more useful than Brand imo. Meanwhile Young is much more valuable then Varejao. You could make the case Varejao is overpaid, he will be making 10 million a year in the last year of his contract. And he still hasn't proved he's a full time starter.

hahaha I know who's that "some people" is. But honestly, I would have also trade Thad for both Jordan and McGee.

Thaddeusyoungin, you could post the trade on the trade board, but I think Cav and pacer would shoot it down quick.

That extra year of brand costs $18M.

Pacer fans definitely won;t make the deal since both Murphy and Dunleavy are expiring and they think they can make good trades with them.

I do think Varejao is a little overrated and overpaid, but is good at the role of hustle guy for a contending team. Maybe some team in that position will make a play for him. I'm pretty sure the 6th year of his contract is partially guaranteed and with incentives can reach $7.5M.

I think a big with potential always has better trade value than a comparable wing. From what Sixerfan says Thad's trade value isn't that high. I think if the Sixers trade for McGee he could work out or they could next trade him in a year or two. Thad really has to step it up this season.

Wiz won't be interested with Young, with J-Howard at the SF position.

I think they would be interested in a SF, but probably not for McGee though.
