Inception was so confusing to me it was not unlike times I was in Korea watching Korean TV and not being able to understand one word.It was like endless action and endless dreams within a dream. If you go for that sort of thing, fine. I don't.

Should have done my homework and gone to see some chick flick. No worries, though.

It won't be finalized until custody issues are settled, JWiz.

Well my wife just dragged me to Inception and now I'm considering divorce myself.

I assume I've seen a worse movie but I'll be damned if I can think of what it was.

Well, I'll be damned. Sorry to hear that buddy. I hope it's amicable. I was supposed to get married since last year, but with all the family nonsense and bullsh*t, we've been pulling a Brangelina. I find it so much more liberating without the strings attached, and we've been much happier even if our respective families are on the verge of disowning us. I'm from a hardline christian family, and she's from a traditionalist Japanese family. Probably doesn't help that we're an interracial couple.

My parents have probably considered bringing in an exorcist to splash me with holy water and her parents think she's a whore...and day by day, become less concerned with my well being.

Anyway, wish you all the happiness you deserve in life brother.

JWiz, I just hope you won't be unhappy. My marriage was pretty bad the last 5 or so years. JWiz, you're way better off not getting "unequally yoked".

She is just a friend, but yes, she's a lot hotter than the soon-to-be-ex. And to answer what you are probably thinking, I didn't meet her until after Mrs CCJ filed back in March--after she did and I left and eventually got my own place.

I am no hurry to do anything but to make the best of it, JWiz.

Never crossed my mind. You don't come across as that type of guy. I am happy, but won't act like it wouldn't be more fulfilling if our families would share in it. I don't believe in marriage anymore. I don't need to bankrupt myself to hold some splashy event to affirm my love for my partner, make empty promises, and do so under the premise of being under the eyes of God. I tell her everyday how I feel about her and my promises are between us and no one else...and God already knows what's in my heart so I'll be damned if I need to sanctify my affection in front of a bunch of hypocrites and sponges. No rings, no white dress, no institution...just trust. Damn, isn't that a f**king beautiful thing.

I'm getting to worked up here. Sorry about that. Like I said before, you take care and live your life to fullest. Hope you two can remain friends. If not, be grateful for the happy times. Not that you need me telling you this, I'm a ripe 24 and you're probably a sage (no disrespect, just value your opinion is all  ).

...I never thought of it that way...but wouldn't it be cool if Randy Couture was your dad?

BTW, on the topic of MMA, it was a year ago around this time that I almost got punched in the face by Chuck Liddell. Good times.

strange times at home right now

for the 1st time in about 15 years, we have an extended (1 week)
period of being empty nest'ers. Really strange. I think I'm handling
it a little better than my better half not that I'm not missing the
kids.

it'll be over before we know it though. Hopefully we won't
then be wishing soon wishing they'd go back to camp.

Our 20th anniv is coming up fast. We'll take a 3 night
trip out to Deep Creek Lake then and my sis-in-law takes
the girls and the GShep which makes everyone happy.

in the meantime, all our vehicles have issues

my MC needs rear brake pads and I'm not sure I can do
it right what with the ABS and everything on it.

put front pads in my truck last night and something
ain't right as the left side is draggin and I can't drive
it far or fast without the wheel starting to smoke.

at least our old Subaru is holding on

Why were you a temporary empty nester? DId you send the kids off to camp or something?

My in-laws have a cabin out near Deep Creek Lake. I often see people cycling around the area. Are you one of them?

Kids are at camp. Older one is on her 3rd week of 4. She talked younger
one into going for a week and eventually younger agreed and is
gone for the longest sleep-away of her life. Hence the one week
of No kids at all. Oldest one is nearly 15 so it's been a while since
this has been the situation.

I've never really been to Deep Creek Lake except once perhaps to drive
past in on the way to a ski area in WV. I'm hoping things work out
to visit the folks at this house

www.ourcoolhouse.com

a site I found while the house was still in the planning
or early stages of construction. It uses concepts I would
love eventually to use for my own rural retreat one day,
should I have sufficient $$$ after sending my kids to school.
I contacted the owners who I had corresponded with years
ago while they were still building, and if things work out
they've said we can come have the .05 tour.

I've always been interested in energy efficient home design. It's criminal that more homes don't at least employ basic concepts of passive solar heating. There's not much to it. Lots of windows on the south with an overhang to shield the high summer sun. Few windows on the north and west.

My dream home would be something like this but built on the north side of a large lake so the southern exposure overlooks the lake.

If she's a Japanese citizen, not a Japanese American, and you're thinking of ever having kids, it would be a good idea to read up on Japan's child custody laws and signature status to international treaties on child abduction.

Basically, there is no such thing as split custody in Japan, women are almost always given full custody, and for various reasons Japan is not a signatory to the international treaty (forget the name) that would require the country to extradite child abductors. There have been many cases of women getting married overseas, the marraige going bad (the Japanese argue this is almost always due to abuse, thus justifying the wife's actions), and the woman taking the kids overseas never to be heard from again. The only men who see their chidlren after that are those who move to Japan to be near the children, and even then they need the wife's permission (you can't sue from the US and suing in Japan is basically a dead end).

Not saying this should be the basis for anyone's decision, but it is something you should know about (I'm in a similar, though perhaps not as far advanced, stage as yourself).

So happy to be back on the MC today. The brake pad replacement
ended up being a piece of cake to do.

So now I only have to fix a dragging brake on my PU
and things will be as they should be.

Getting back on the MC is such a pleasure after
driving the cage for almost a month.

Ok this is weird. Two nights ago I had a dream that Strasburg got injured and the Nats lost of him for the season and this news was announced while I was at a Nats game.

Yesterday a friend called me and offered me free tickets to the Nats/Braves game. A few minutes before the first pitch they made the announcement Strasburg had been pulled due to an injury.

FREAKY!

Yeah, she was born in Japan but moved to the U.S when she was 5. We were actually having that discussion a few weeks ago. Thanks for the advice.

Daughter 2's BB team played their second playoff game last night.
Wife and I went to watch (at HHS Cramer) even though #2 was
not there (as per above). They beat the Chantilly team that
finished above them in the standings as a result of the Chantilly's
triple OT win over us in their last reg season game. We pulled away
in the 2nd half of a close game and won by ~8 pts.

Our girls play GREAT D and have 2 excellent on ball defenders.
Championship game tonight at Madison HS (Vienna) @ 7:30.
They'll probably be playing this really good team that clobbered
them by 20+ for the team's only other loss during the season.
They didn't play well in that game from what I hear (didn't see it).
If they play the kind of D they played last night, anything could happen.
