Delonte West/Sebastian Telfair

Post#1 » by bsupacers42 » Tue Jul 27, 2010 6:42 pm

First off, this is my first post on the realgm boards!

But anyways, I was wondering if Delonte West or Sebastian Telfair could be an option at the point for us. The TimberWolves seem like they're going to waive both of them.

Welcome to the board.

There is no way in heck that the Pacers ever sign Delonte West because of his past run in with the law. If my memory serves me correct he was caught with a bunch of guns or something. Plus he's more of a 2 in my opinion.

As for Telfair, I don't know too much about him. i know he was highly touted in high school but has never panned out in the pros. Maybe we take a look.

If we sign Magnum Rolle, which I think we will, we won't have enuff roster spots. If Murphy is moved before the season starts. I can see one of them end up on the Pacers. Most likely West for a 1-year deal.

Yeah, no roster spots and West has been in trouble, so forget it

Too bad Marbury is goin back to China. We could have Stephenson, Marbury, and Telfair.

I doubt West moreso than Telfair. Yes, both of them have weapons violations with the law (West with his ride of destiny being caught on a motorcycle with numerous weapons, many loaded; Telfair with having an unloaded weapon in his luggage while trying to hop on a flight out of Portland), but West is still at the "temperamental" stage, while Telfair is firmly in the "fighting for a spot in the league" stage. West is still at the Artest stage of denying he needs help/turning down the help he knows he needs, while Telfair is simply not the smartest guy out there.

Telfair is the lesser of "two evils" in terms of public perception. He made a mistake and has been clean since. West was still missing games for "mental fatigue" this past season with the Cavs and probably won't do much better with his life being moved all around.

I'd actually be for trading Solo Jones for Telfair in some manner. We come out with the same amount of roster spots, and get a guy to simply hold the place of a PG for a year and be a solid backup option, while still being young enough to possibly show us something.

I can't see putting West in a Pacer Uniform, even at NBA Min. He is talented but seems very unstable.

I'm not really enamored with either one tbh.
