Louis Amundson Available

Post#1 » by Luigi » Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:25 pm

He's not the full sized defensive center we want, and his haircut is unforgivable, but putting him into the big man rotation might help us out. He rebounds and defends (great on the pick and roll because he's faster than other bigs, great help side, and aggressive man on). Plus, he can run the floor.

I'm not sure what his value is at right now, but I'd appreciate another athletic shotblocker in the lineup that plays with heart.

Amen to that. As much as I love Jeffers, I'd rather see a spot filled by a big man the likes of Amundson. We need depth at Center more than we need wing players...

How many guys will we carry on the roster this year?

Williams, Price, Gaines
Miles, Bell, Jeffers
Kirilenko, Hayward, Evans
Millsap, Amundson
Jefferson, Okur, Fesenko

That'd only be 14. Oh, and are we signing our second round pick (Evans) this year for sure?

I would love for the Jazz to pick him up. What amount would it take though for him to come here. I think that will be the stumbling block for the Jazz as they probably don't want to go much more into luxury tax territory.

I also think that the jazz should sign Evans as well.

Evans has a really high ceiling, from what I can tell. I would not let that guy go. He brings crazy athleticism and good length.

Lou would be great for the Jazz. He plays Sloan ball, and would bring a great defensive presence with Okur out there in the bench lineup. It all depends on the price tag.

I have no reason for keeping Jeffers.

is there enough playing time for him? think that if he signs for 3 millions, you have to pay him 6 mil (luxury tax).
Center: Al jefferson, Memo, arguably Fes: no more than 5 mins available.
PF: AJ, Millsap, AK.

Yeah, we need someone to fill the front court, but 6 mil for 5-10 mins of PT is wasted money.

Yes, that luxury tax will probably make him too expensive for us.

It's a shame too. I'm not certain AK will log many minutes at the 4 this year because our 2/3 rotation is so uncertain right now. It really depends on how much Miles, Bell, and Hayward can carry. I guess the difference is when I look at the 2/3s and then look at the 4/5s, I think the swingmen need AK more than the bigmen. Which then means the bigs need a lesser backup to fill them out.

Maybe Evans can play a bit so that he and AK can make the lineup work. I hear he's raw, but has good potential. Some pegged him as a 4 that needs to gain weight anyway.
