Alright, just made some massive updates to the Official Tracking Thread, and got the Draft Thread up after finally getting off from work today (had to work a 16 Hr shift today due to an Upgrade Project, sorry guys).

Official Draft/Trades/Rules Thread: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1038353

Official Draft Selection Thread: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1041343

====================================

Please note: can someone please create a separate Thread where people will post their Contact Info, that of their Asst GM, and whether their Asst GM can execute Trades for them or not. Thanks.

Also, 1st Four Rounds of the Draft Posted. :)

The sooner I get the info above in the GM Contact Thread (whoever creates it), the sooner I can update the Locked Official Tracking Thread.

Mags, couple of questions with rules:

1) sim. Is there a sim or not? I see the rules talk about it a couple of times but when points are mentioned there is nothing about a sim.

2) players under contract for 2009-10 only. Example: Splitter is no good. Does this mean that rookies just drafted can not be included? Also, what about foreign players who are going to play this upcomign season, like Splitter?

Hey Mags...I thought we were also drafting Coaches for our franchise as well? Can I get a clarification? I think it brings an interesting element to the draft process, and each team has the same chance of employing a Phil Jax or Greg Pop...etc.

Yeah it's possible, but let's get through the main Round 1st. We have enough of a hard time doing that, especially in the Summer with guys going away on VaCa. Once we finish all 12 Rounds we can discuss Coaches again.

That defeats the purpose, we should establish this now. I'm talking about adding Coaches into the player pool.

You can't have a separate "Coaches Draft"...how do you establish the draft order? It wouldn't be fair to the guy picking 30th who doesn't even get to choose a coach, let alone the other teams who don't get a Top 5ish pick.

By adding the Coaches to the Player Pool, EVERYONE has the opportunity at any time to select the guy they want at the helm. It adds to the strategy and makes for a true Team Build.

People Drafting Coaches during the Round of 12 instead of Players is a dumb idea (no offense). Coaches play a small role in this, especially w/ no SIM. If you want to Draft them after that's cool, but not during.

Me personally: I prefer not to include them. Give what I said prior about activity during the Summer.

Agreed. This will make it really interesting and add a completely new element to the competition. Seeing how people value different coaches and how they value having a coach in general would be very engaging and definitely help the judging process out.

Actually, when we talked about it at the end of 3.0 there were quite a few who were receptive to the idea. It seems the "BAT" we've been running has become a little old, and the idea of building a "Franchise" seemed to spice things up a little. It completely adds to the strategy of the draft.

I don't see how Coaches play a small role, especially considering there IS no sim. It could most definitely be taken into consideration with the judging as to the fit and style of play of the overall roster.

You again suggested drafting the coaches afterwords, but haven't addressed my concerns of how you determine a draft order. Again, the guy selecting 30th doesn't even get a choice of who to draft...and the teams lucky enough to be in the front of the draft get their pick of the litter.

At least my way EVERYONE has a chance to select ANY coach they'd like, and can choose to build to the strengths of that coach.

It's tough to build a franchise when it's only a one year thing. Unless you want to make it a keeper thing and do it that way.

Before this discussion gets any further.. if we do end up drafting coaches, I don't think it should be limited to the 30 current coaches in the league.
