A Pacer fan thinks this is what Bird will give up for his PG

This could get locked, but this scenario could actually work for both parties, I would settle for this trade if it could happen.

Jose Calderon for Dahntay Jones and Jeff Foster

Foster is the best guy next to Bargnani and the hole BC is trying to fill is a SF or SG and that could be taken care of a defensive minded player in DJ.

Indiana might actually go for this as they will end up with an experienced PG in Jose who should mesh well with the young core of Indiana players..

What do you think?

Let the post get locked if need be, but stop typing in IBTL....

Obviously, this is a no-brainer for Toronto...

Foster's true value to this team comes in the form of his Xpiring contract

I think the last place Jose wants to end up in is Indiana with TJ. Not that he would have any say, just saying.

I think Colangelo can do better. Though Calderon's salary is bloated, he's still a legit starting point guard if you're not talking the upper echelon pgs in this league. I would rather hang on to him out of spite and hope a team like GS, Cleveland, etc. gets desperate enough to give up something better.

Foster is not a hustling center anymore. He's washed up beyond being washed up. I think his PER was close to a record low in the history of the league or something

I am definitely willing to do this trade. Jones is a good defender, an upgrade from Antoine Wright. Foster is a good offensive rebounder and an expiring (Close to 7 million).

Jack/Barbosa
DD/Jones
Kleiza/Weems
Amir/Davis
Bargnani/Foster

Then we have 17 million in expiring and 2 first round picks headed to 2011-2012.

I'm pretty sure Larry Bird is looking to dump TJ really soon... I must say history has shown that Bird has always something going on with this poing guards.

no way. nope.

Foster's expiring in it self is already worth it, throw in Dantay Jones and its a steal, BC wouldn't pass this up.

Agreed... but doesn't his expiring contract after this season appeal to you... not even just a little bit.

Hmm getting an expiring contract in Jeff Foster would be really go imo. Adding Dahntay Jones as a defensive SF and getting rid of Calderon would be fantastic.

Works in trade machine

Not a fan of Foster, and definately not a fan of Dahntay Jones taking away PT from DD/Weems. Can't believe I just said that.

Regardless, cool to acquire that close to 7 million expiring with Foster, but between his lack of D and his back issues, I would rather sit tight.

Dahntay Jones was kinda intriguing last year, but I'm not ready to commit close to 3 million to this guy.

Hang tight, pick up some more picks.

for sure i would do it just to clear Jose's contract. Pretty sure BC would do it as well, considering the deals he's been looking at so far, if it was on the table.

What about Murphy? Expiring, 30 yrs old, hustles, rebounds, 3 pt, good FT shooter.

If Indiana offers us ANYTHING for Calderon (without picks involved), we have to take it. They don't really have any bad contracts considering virtually everyone is ending. I don't really want Jones, but his deal is cheap enough. It just sucks that the Wolves already traded Sessions because he would have been a perfect addition if we pulled a trade of Calderon to Indy.

Trading for Foster would give us a total of around $24 million in expiring contracts this season, plus we'll still have the $14.5 million Bosh TPE.

That's a lot of financial flexibility.

If Jose is to be traded before the season starts it will be either Indiana, Detroit or Memphis (though less probable). I think Foster is ideal for us, allowing AB to play the 4 it will also enable us to see how ED plays next to a traditional centre vs a permeter oriented big man in AB. All of this without having to commit long term (Foster is expiring). Ultimatley, I think our answer to the 5 spot will have to come from the draft, this buys us time to try different combinations and see what fits our core players best.

Thats pretty good. I don't think BC is getting any decent offers for Caldy anyway. We would be set in the long run.

But again, this is a poster's idea, so don't get your hopes up.
