The whole he was only good for a few weeks in college is not accurate and is stated by those who dont really put the time and effort into watching college basketball pre mid March, and only monitor those or base opinions based on draft boards.

He was very good in the last two thirds of the Big East regular season, and the Big East Tournament.

Lottery was a little high, but I liked his game as a first rounder as early as early Feb

His situation is pretty similar to luke jackson's. Both were good in college and drafted high but were plagued with injuries in their nba seasons. He needs to come back and prove himself , just not with us.

I'm not sure if he's NBA material (yet).

and i have a feeling hayward is gonna have a similar path...

Hayward is already more skilled than Alexander will probably ever be. Totally different players. Alexander was drafted because of his alleged work ethic and proven athletic dominance. All in all, if Joey Graham can find success, so can Alexander. If not? Well, he's a big dude with freakish athleticism and he speaks Chinese. He'll make money playing basketball one way or another.

How about Rodney Carney? He's a young, athletic forward, who'd be a nice minimum wage signing imo.

You guys should definitely sign Joe Alexander. Give him plenty of minutes, too.

Joe Alexander has hall of fame written all over him IMO. Should should probably give him 5 years at $7 mill a season now and lock him in... because he is going to be 3 times that in a few years. Making a starting forward as well... then let me know when the deal has been inked... so I can grab the popcorn.

Bulls had him on their Las Vegas team - but then removed him due to injury. Injury was never revealed but Joe hasnt seemed to have worked out with anyone.

The Bulls may invite him to Training Camp if no one else signs him.

I remember seeing him jump through the roof. However that doesn't mean he can do anything basketball related.

Often when someone high profile busts, there are message board rumours that they don't work hard and chase girls. I've seen it kicked around so many times. Guess what, lots of successful young players don't work hard and chase girls, too. Alexander was a PF in college, relatively new to basketball and trying to play the SG under a win-now, demanding coach. How many of those types make it?

He'd certainly help in my quest for Kyrie Irving to land on this team next year...

He should never have been drafted that high

How he went before Lopez and Randolph amazes me

Per Wire Tap:
The Timberwolves will work out free-agent forward Joe Alexander this week, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.

Zgoda asks the question: "but even if they like him, where's he gonna play?"

Minnesota has a ton of forwards including: Michael Beasley, Corey Brewer, Lazar Hayward, Wesley Johnson, Kevin Love, Darko Milicic, Anthony Tolliver and Martell Webster.
The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.

other than being not black, i don't see how the two of them are similar players at all.

Hayward relies on skill, his playmaking, and a smooth jumpshot, while alexander bangs and relies on his athleticism.

wiki
Alexander was described as the best athlete on paper at the draft overall, by having the second most number of 185 lb bench reps (24), the second highest max touch (12' ½") and the second fastest ¾ sprint time (2.99 seconds).
