What are your thoughts of Dominique Wilkens as a player?Do you feel his career was unfulfilled or he didnt have enough help to get past the second round. The worst playoff losses to me is the series against Bird they lost whenthey should've won Game 6, The Pistons series where Isiah hit a shot at the buzzer and the series against the Bucks where they lost and that team had Malone and Theus

it is hard to complain about fate, because Atlanta was lucky to get Dominique in the first place. Hawks did their best to proactively get talent around Nique, but Mosses and Theus were 34yr when they joined Nique. it is a shame that Wilkins never had a solid teammate, because Willis and Rivers are not even legit starters, and couldn't even start for other teams in the NBA, but it would have been great if the Hawks could have drafted somebody like Mark Price, Chris Mullin, Dumars, Oakley, Karl Malone, or John Stockton.

i think Dominique and Stockton could have easily beaten that Celtics team and Pistons team and won a championship.

but the biggest injustice for Dominique was trading him away when the Hawks were the best team in the eastern conference, just for financial reasons. Jordan was playing baseball and the Hawks were the best team in the NBA. Manning lost his magic when he left Kansas and was never a legit #1 in the NBA and that is why Miller was able to dominate the Hawks. if Nique was able to duel Bird, he could have easily put away Miller, and then could have taken one if not two of Hakeem's championships.

Nique was one of the greatest players ever! Guys talk about him due to the lack of championships but his time in the league coincided with the dominance of the Celtics, Pistons and Bulls. We made a couple of bad moves but in general here is what should have happened. Hawks needed at least two years for the Moses and Theus thing to work. Then the Pistons signed Koncak to an offer sheet and hawks should have let it mess up the Pistons payroll like it did the Hawks. In addition the team never had a consistent shooter to spread the floor. Remember Nique was a very good rebounder for a small forward. He also shot free throws at 80% and went to the line often.
