Actually there was a rumour a few days back from NY suggesting than an interesting deal might be Downs, Wells for Granderson. Not my idea. BTW, are you always this ignorant in response. Not that you are incorrect, simply rude and disrespectful.

Alex is simply pulling a classic Scott Boras move, ask for the moon and risk looking like a fool but more often than not you'll end up getting what you actually wanted. Remember when Boras wanted 60 million for strasburg but ended up getting 15 which is still extremely good?

This is beyond absurd. Please take your attention whoring to another board.

I've noticed a big drop off in Downs since the end of 2008. His velocity is down and he's nibbling a lot more (in lower pressure situations). He has battled injuries - perhaps he's paying the price for ton of appearances in 2008.

If your numbers tell you that 2010 Downs is virtually as effective as the 2008 version then I appreciate the input - it's at odds with what I'm seeing on the field and how Cito chooses to deploy him.

But why the comment about attention whoring? I made a comment about a middle reliever dude.

montero :)

could montero or jp arencebia play different positions?

Maybe one could play 1B, but we already have Wallace coming up there. Never hurts to load up on talented prospects.

It was completely baseless and wrong, though.

2008 Downs: 70.2 IP, 7.26 K/9, 3.44 BB/9, 0.38 HR/9, 65.6 GB%, 3.39 FIP, 3.67 xFIP, 2.99 tERA, 89.9 FB velocity

2010 Downs: 42.1 IP, 7.44 K/9, 2.13 BB/9, 0.43 HR/9, 57.1 GB%, 2.99 FIP, 3.41 xFIP, 2.98 tERA, 89.7 FB velocity

I'd be glad to take Joba for Downs, but I don't expect Cashman is that desperate.

Jesus has exactly a -10% chance of staying at catcher thats right negative percent lol. You could put him at 1B and trade Wallace for a 3B prospect or maybe DH him and move lind?? not sure where Montero would fit in the organization but its never a bad idea to go for the best player.

If you were the Yankees brass, and with the group you have (veterans), Downs is a far superior reliever then Joba this year. Really, it's a small price to pay considering Downs is just as effective against left handed hitters vs. right handed hitters. He induces a lot of groundballs as well.

Except the Yankees are going to be just fine this year whether they have Scott Downs or not. And I'm sure they know that Joba carries a lot more value in the future for them.

With who? Chan Ho Park? or maybe David Robertson? Joba? You trust them? Marte & Aceves both on the DL. Downs is the perfect 8th inning guy. Not saying that the Yankees will go out and get another guy, because if they're smart, they do that.

I know Joba carries a lot more value, but if the Yankees don't win a championship, there's gonna be a lot of people mad in New York

The Yanks do need someone like Downs if they are going to take a run at becoming WS champs.
