I can't wait for the day when the Jays will be doing this to more teams, and not just the Orioles.

It's amazing how critical fans are of this guy for no real reason. There have been Overbay haters at every game I've attended for two years now, and it was no different tonight.

No real reason? He's the worst hitting every day 1B in baseball this year. Okay, among qualified Smoak has been worse, but that's a premium prospect getting ABs, not a 30 something vet plugging away. Maybe Derek Lee should join the debate (and how on earth he gets to deny a trade I don't know), but there's a decent gap between those three and the other 23 guys. If you can't hit for average or power at 1B, the fans are going to get riled about it.

In the past posters, such as yourself, have been able to make good cases that my dislike of Overbay was, at least partly, irrational. That being said, it's his last year, he's pretty much below replacement value in every single significant statistical offensive category except 2B and R for his position. I think as far as scapegoats go, this ones pretty appropriate. After years of mediocre, or at the very least, not flashy offense out of the premium offensive position, how can it be a surprise most fans can't wait to see him gone?

IMO once the deadline passes, I'm all for giving Wallace the audition. I can't see them holding him out 'til June next year, since there'll be no one to fill in until then, so the super 2 thing is out the window anyway, so give the kid his taste and be done with Lyle.
