OK guys with the Aug 1st start of the season coming up, here are my thoughts on a time frame. Nothing here is finalized yet, just what I am thinking. I have talked with a few, but anyone with ideas or suggestions please let me know
July 31 (midnight EST) all teams must be, and stay, in between the 12-15 man roster rules like the NBA
Aug 31 (midnight EST) will be the trade deadline using 2010/2011 salaries. This will set your playoff roster
all teams would have to rank teams from 1-30 and email me a list, this is what will determine the standings, then I will do a lottery.
I would like the draft to be started by Sept 6th. I hope have the draft move much faster then it normally does (Babyjax13 will be running the draft).
Followed by free agency.
I will be away from Sept 26th till Oct 3rd so I really want all the big free agents, RFA's and minor free agents signed by then. Unlike in past games I will try to save the vet min free agents till later on in free agency allowing them time to try to find a better paying job. This does not mean that some vets willl not pass on a $2mil offer to sign with a winner for min, just that they will alot will hold out for the money

Re: GM a TEAM 10/11 scheduling discussions
Wow, we're going to be done with the game before the season even starts? No wonder I usually don't play this game.
my response was ....
that is the main reason why I didn't want the game to start so quick. All the dead time is going to make people lose interest. I am all for waiting till at least the start of the season for final 2012 rosters to be set, and would be cool waiting till I get back from vacation to start free agency, I am just afraid teams will lose interest. Hopefully we can discuss in the thread and get a better feal, these are my thoughts, not set dates

That quote was mine. Consider my interest officially tanked.

Re: GM a TEAM 10/11 scheduling discussions
I am thinking we get FA done or mostly done(I will still be here so can finish up the remaining FA signings) before you go out of town SB but we can take a bit longer with after FA trading to push it into the season if GMs want to. I would not mind the extra wait since it is summer time and no big hurry IMO.
Sure some will lose interest but that happens with some GMs no matter the length.
IF we do go longer this is the perfect time of year to do it.

personally if most GM's will stay interested, I would like to wait till Oct to start FA and have some trading and 2012 rosters set by early Nov

Re: GM a TEAM 10/11 scheduling discussions
I think November is definitely too long. You've also got to watch out for the fantasy draft game taking people's attention. I think the original timescale you proposed is just fine.

no offense, but other games schedules will not effect this game. If they want to run 2 games at the same time and you want to play to games, that is up to you. This game will run its own schedule.

I like the original schedule. That way we're done before/as school starts for some people.

Re: GM a TEAM 10/11 scheduling discussions
I wasn't sure if I should post this in the discussion thread or not...
For the draft - it seems that where we get slowed down the most is in the second round so we are going to do it a bit differently that usual, Instead of having a time limit for picks everyone will send me a list (can be as long or short as you like) of the prospects they like the most. I will then take those lists and determain all of the picks from them. This will ensure that it is done in one day.
I thought about running the first round like that as well, but I don't think we will. What I want to do is have the first round go Saturday (Aug. 28th or Sept. 4th/11th) and Sunday (29th or 5th/12th), then on Sunday or Monday evening I will post the results of the second round. Picks would be made between 9 AM and 8:30 PM in 45 minute intervals over those two days. If you don't make a pick (or send me a list for your pick if you can't make it) we will give you the highest available prospect from draftexpress.com.
Does this sound like a good plan to everyone?

Re: GM a TEAM 10/11 scheduling discussions
OK guys here are the official deadlines for now
- Trade deadline for 2010/2011 is midnight EST on Aug 20th
- All final 2010/2011 rosters and depth chart (with minutes played breakdown) must be listed by midnight EST on Aug 22nd
- Every All teams would then send me their rankings to decide the 2011 Champion and the draft order. Any team that sends in a ranking would get 5 bonus points which would get added to the final standings at the end of the game (which will be about 2 weeks after 2011 free agency ends).
*This deadline will be midnight EST on Aug 25th
- Once I talley up all the votes (hopefully will have a few out of game voters, but not sure yet) I will announce the standings and have a lottery. The draft will hopefully start a day after this is announced.
babyjax will be running the draft, I think we have decided to allow 1 hour in between picks before BPA is assigned (once BPA is assigned it is final and will not change) as soon as the time has expired, that team will be given BPA and the next team is on the clock. That team can not jump ahead to select a player. I think we will have a window overnight when the clock is stopped but that is up to babykax. Round 2 will be a lightning round, only allowing 30 min inbetween picks and the entire 2nd round will be done in 1 day.
* TRADES DURING THE DRAFT WILL BE USING 2011/2012 salaries
Free Agency will start a few days after the draft !

Re: GM a TEAM 10/11 scheduling discussions
I thought I posted this somewhere, but could not find it.
The 2011/2012 salary cap will be $58 mil, the MLE will be $5.75 mil, BAE will be $2 mil
Remeber that MLE, BAE, TPE's and 1st round picks all are cap holds.
The rookie scale will be the same as this season.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9302
The following teams have used there BAE in 2011 so do not have it for 2012
In game: Dallas (Amundsen), Utah (JWill), Bucks(Head), Orlando (D.Cunningham)
Real Life: NONE, all happened after the game started
