Hey guys, I love discussing hip hop music and discovering new artists always make my day so I decided to make this thread.

So heres a couple to start the thread.

Snowgoons

They're probably the MOST slept on producers of the decade. Hailing from Germany they team up with legit MCs like Reef the Lost Cauze(from Philly), Jus Allah from Jedi Mind Tricks, The Last Emperor, etc.

I only listen to conscious rap and true lyricists. So if you're into the same kind of music I'm into or like the links I posted, I have more recommendation for you.

I might have to check out Sho Baraka. I liked those songs.

I love Elzhi. And Slum Village for that matter. Villa Manifesto is a dope album.

But yeah, two of my favorite producers right now are Exile (works with Blu and Fashawn) and Black Milk (worked on Elzi's album two years ago).

I don't really listen to hip hop right now. The only rap I listen to is in the 90s. Nas (illmatic), Wu Tang Clan, and Pac/Biggie (of course). I loved Jay Z's first album though.(D'evil has got to be one of my favorites on that album. I'm a christian but still a classic.) Then after my interest kind of drifted away.

I listen to more mainstream stuff, at least more mainstream than a lot of stuff on here. Favorite rapper right now is probably Mos Def and aside from the latest album of his I like Common a good bit too. If I ran down a list of rappers on my mp3 player it would be something like:

Nas, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Mos Def, Common, older Jay-Z, Biggie and a good bit of random remixes with different rappers on them.

I'll start a nice little discussion with this though, I honestly think Tupac is the most over rated rapper of all time. I really don't like his flow, voice, and I think he is a pretty below average lyricist.

Zzazz, I think Pac was just a lost artist for the most part. If you sit down and listen to his entire discography one day, you'll see how contradictive he was in his music. He went from political...to conscious.....to thug. That being said, I enjoyed the hell out of his political and conscious period. Basically once he got out of jail and signed the Death Row was when his thug style that I didn't like came out.

9th, Shad is DOPE AS HELL. I still need to check out TSOL. I loved The OLD Prince album.

Fstop, Jay Electronica is the biggest tease in the world. Act II was supposed to drop on New Years Eve 2009. Yeah, he still hasn't dropped anything. He has all the talent in the world though. His wife is an incredible artist as well (Erykah Badu).

Agreed on Pac. I just had hatred towards Suge Knight at that time. Had a real bad feeling when he signed with Death Row. Felt like Pac sold his soul to the devil. Then Killuminati came out and I was SOLD. Even though hip hop music had died ever sense (in my opinion), I'm still happy that Suge Knight is completely out of the game. Now if Diddy was next, that would be icing on the cake. Not happening though.
