This offseason just keeps getting worse and worse. I dont think were gonna end up having Moss either.

Adam Schefter, arguably the best news-breaking journalist in football, is saying otherwise. From the wording, it also sounds like the Pats were smart on not giving in right away.

As far as Gay goes, the jokes were fun, but he's very replaceable and is nowhere near the loss that Asante is.

Has anything unexpected happened, really?

Only thing I wasn't expecting was Colvin, but I said goodbye to Samuel, Gay, Stallworth after the season ended.

LOL a the Saints giving a nickelback a 4/17.6 contract. Unreal.

Well they did need a new corner in the worst way possible. If I weren't being lazy i'd go pull out the Football Outsiders article that said Jason David had a worse defending success rate than "no defender/blown coverage" according to their game charting numbers.

BG has it right, the only person we were not expecting was Colvin. And Moss, if Moss goes. But free agency at both WR and CB/S was really thin. So you had to think teams were going to overpay for the Gay Wilson's.

Losing both starting CBs is tougher than you think. Who were back ups last year? Any ideas on replacements?

Gay was the nickel corner last year, Hobbs was the other starter. But this team is going to obviously need to find 2 or 3 more corners. The only other CB on the roster who has any NFL experience is Antwain Spann I believe.

There are just boatloads of cornerbacks in the draft. Could be more than a dozen guys taken in the first three rounds.

When was the last time the Patriots went into a season without pretty big "question marks" in the secondary? I think they've proven that it just doesn't matter; they'll figure something out and go win 13 games.

I'm actually of mind that losing Randall Gay is going to be a bigger blow to this team than losing Samuel. Mostly because I believe Gay had the capacity to come in and play himself into a starting spot. Ah well.
