1B in 2011

So, with Wallace now out of the picture, 1B is wide open for 2011. Options:

- move Lind to 1B
- keep Bautista, move him to 1B
- keep Overbay
- acquire new 1B

Note I do not list Snider at 1B as an option, because at 5' 10" he's not a good long-term option there IMO. I like the 4th option. I'd seriously pursue Montero from the Yankees, and wouldn't hesitate throwing a package like Rzep + Downs or Mills + Downs for him. Montero may not be ready for 2011 (though he is batting an .800 OPS in AAA at age 20), but I don't mind having a stopgap there for one year.

LF Wells
CF Lewis
RF Snider
3B Bautista
SS Escobar
2B Hill
1B Montero
C Arencibia
DH Lind
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I dont think the Yanks will give him up, I like Lind at 1B personally and I think that's the direction AA wants to go as well lets not forget that Lind hit at over 900 OPS and over 140 OPS+. Those are impact 1B numbers plus its a lot easier to go out a get a solid hitter who cant play a cent of defense than it is to get a impact 1B prospect.

I would say move Lind to 1st or trade for one. Haven't followed Montero, so I can't speak about him. But I wouldn't trade Rzep for him.

BTW Wells isn't moving to LF for at least another 2-3 seasons and not for Lewis.

I'm assuming Rzep or Mills + Downs isn't enough to get Montero.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.
