The x(number) calculation is kinda arbitrary and probably shouldn't be that disparate. But that's really more for an overall winner. How about instead we total the points for each team across all the categories and the team with the overall lowest number is the overall winner.

You'd still have the winners for each of the categories being the team with the lowest point total for that category. Then team with the lowest number of points across all categories is the overall champ. Multiple champs (almost like one in every weight class)with one overall champ.

Makes if fair and not weighted in favor of any particular category.

Deal? We can nitpick this to death but the reality is that there is no perfect way of judging and you want one that is going to be the easiest to make happen. And this is it.

This is exactly what I was thinking about but couldn't figure a way to put it to words last night (hey, it was late).

I feel we should come up with some additional categories (open to suggestions) that we can be judged on...

Examples:

"Best GM" - Who had the best overall draft from their position? Workings the phones and making solid deals to put their franchise in a better position going forward.

Maybe an "Assistant GM of the BAT" - For the Assistant GM most responsible for his franchises success, whether it was his work behind the scenes with player evaluations or just the work put in doing the research and working the trade rumors.

Maybe the "Isiah Thomas Award" - This will be won by Q2N8, but we'll put it up for nomination should anyone battle him for the crown. This award goes to the team who makes some questionable decisions regarding both personnel and women to sexually harass, leaving their teams franchise in a bad position moving forward.

Feel free to add on...

To me, we all put in so much time and effort into these things and we should all be recognized for that work in some way. I understand that it's a competition, but the scoring shouldn't be so cut and dry. We can all determine who are the Top Tier teams and those that are not, we don't need teams to fall into point categories to prove that.

This could be much more fun than it already is, and we can still determine an overall winner.

GMOTY is good (it's the same as EOTY).

The rest would be just a waste of time since we have some troubles getting by with lesser Categories, and any others would require a SIM (like ROY, COTY, MIP, etc), which we're not doing.

I agree with Moocow, a Grid-System like the following (for example):

5 Cats across the Board (the number is just an example), and then each GM lists the Teams from 1-30 in each. The Scoring needs to be cut-n-dry otherwise you'd be here all Day debating values and never even get started, much less finish...and we'd end up with so many Categories and such a complicated system that it would be counterproductive.
BAF 1.0 - Wizards: Year 2
PG: Kemba Walker (32) / Rivers (16) / Felton
SG: Evan Fournier (28) / Evans (20) / Dotson
SF: Gordon Hayward (36)/ Delly (12) / Dudley
PF: Kevin Love (36) / Frye (12) / Ellenson
C: Pau Gasol (32) / Noah (16) / Felicio

I think this is a great idea. But a minor correction, it should be 1-29 - no point in ranking your own team.

I'm going to post the "WHO'S ON THE CLOCK" in the DRAFT THREAD. Much cleaner. Leave this to chit chat and what not. And let's leave out the GM names since we've done this enough and if you have to look for your own name instead of your team to know it's your turn, then maybe this isn't the thing for you.

It's started....

I'm going to keep track of team rosters in a spreadsheet or database, then upload it as a PDF (or giant image) when this is all over. Thanks to my insomnia, it should work better than a depth chart or Google spreadsheet alone.

He wouldn't pay the "initiation" fee nor do the other thing that we wanted him to do.

Speaking of Mods, you guys must get paid insanely well because we have retired Mods here on Realgm at the age of like 27 (I think it was). I want in....

You're preaching to the choir. I overheard a few mods talk about their benefits over at the OT board, and I gotta be honest - I sleep better at night knowing that our mods are protected with volcano insurance.
