I would be very surprised if the Yanks gave up one of those prospects for Berkman. He's a nice addition, but his health is a huge question mark. I would've thought they would have more pressing needs.

If Berkman plays for them even like he did for the Astros last year, that's a ridiculous mid-season acquisition for a team that's already BY FAR the best offensive team in the AL.-

EDIT: Just to put some perspective on this... the Yanks have a team OPS+ of 117. The next-best is Minnesota at 111. That's roughly the distance between OUR team and AL average.

Apparently no prospects but the Yankees are responsible for Berkman's entire salary.

Berkman seems to be on the decline. Yankees just got a solid hitter but not the star he once was. Dont expect him to tare of the ball anymore as he did earlier, but his RBI numbers should rise ALOT considering the oppertunities he will get with all the Yankee base runners. Plus he is likely batting in the heart of the order.

.......................... I was a huge Brett Wallace fan, but now im hoping he is a big dissapointment, otherwise Jays will look silly. He is no bust, trust me, but hopefully he is not the moster we were expecting.

Pray for the bust :(

I figure this means Posada will be back to his everyday spot at catcher.

Meh, the two prospects going to Houston aren't that good... and Houston is paying about 4 mill as well. Good move for the Yanks, if Berkman can figure out how to hit this season.

They don't loose anything by doing this deal. They don't really build from the farm system anyways.
