I bet Sasha is happy for him and not in any way jealous or envious.

To be completely honest, I think the Chinese writers give Goran a little bit too much credit. It definitely was a team effort. Dragic made some crucial plays but so did some of the other slovenian players.
If you're desperate to watch the game you can watch a replay on fibaTV (http://www.fibatv.com, follow the link that says "archive games"). Unfortunately I think you have to create an account and pay $5 for a daily pass, also some geographical restrictions exist so you should check those before paying.

Be careful, you have to wait 100 freetrows before you can say anything about his shooting.

After doing the Math, he shot 11 for 19, which is 57.9%. I am still not happy with that.

Hope it didn't seem like I was poking fun at you. The  was just because I anticipated that this stat would stir up the whole discussion again. I completely agree that he has to become a better FT shooter. I slapped my forehead last game when he missed two in a row. You don't want to see that from your PG of the future. But like I said in one of my previous posts, I just think he needs a more solid routine to get him more focused, he looks kind of nonchalant when he shoots them now.

No, I got your wink, and what it was intended. I was just further pointing out my dislike for the original stat. I never really looked at his stats before, and was just happy with his progress. But after revue, I still have some concerns in that area. I understand we are a bit spoiled as fans to have Nash at the line, but to know that our future PG will mean a drop in twenty percentage points from the line should be concerning. But what do I know.

I just think Frank acted impulsively, and now he is looking like what he called me. :(

hehehe I think you are nit picking like my old aunt.... and just as sensitive. Poor fellow...(or?)

The guy plays in his first preseason game, has a decent stat line, and you slink in with your dark cloud routine using an invalid/incomplete stat.

But keep your worrywart eye on GDs FTs. If it becomes a problem, I am sure you will point it out as you don your 'I told you so badge'.

....... but I still don't like him shooting 3-5 from the line.

You forgot to mention he had only 1 rebound. :noway:

Now go on.... or you'll be late for Bingo.

The problem with your theory is, I only said I didn't like his freetrow shooting. You were the one that went off the deep end with your comment. So unless you enjoy being a hypocrite, I think you should rethink your comments.

An apology would have been better than your further insults, but hey that just must be me acting more mature.

I don't need to tell you I told you so, because I never said he would get worse. I just pointed out that he has dropped in percentage to show that my comment was not idiotic, but a valid concern.

I am not sure why you continue to act childish about this.

Theory ??? My theory is let him play ball for a 2-3 months and check his % then... not to whine about his first practice game of the year. May be I misunderstood your intention.... but jeebus... '3 for 5 and I am concerned... ' a valid concern ???

F-n laugher

Insults ??? you made what I thought was a stupid post, and I identified it appropriately ... along with others. Deep end because I called you an idiot or made fun of you ? .... are you 12 or just recently neutered ? I'm insulted that you think I insulted you. Usually my insults are much more identifiable.

I'm loosing my edge in this kinder gentler world.

So buck up Auntie. You can high horse it all you want with maturity and hypocrisy comments... I'm not here for a life lesson. This is entertainment, information, and discussion. I wouldnt say something here that I wouldnt say to your face.

Look, in my retort, I even joked with you about expecting a better put down from you. My problem is you never backed up your put down. You weren't a man about it at all. Explain yourself! I disliked a frickin stat, call the police! But I backed up my concerns with data. Nowhere in my original post was there any whining, nor in any of my posts. So lets not blow things out of proportion to try and validate your rant.

I disliked at stat, that was it. You are the one, who is reading into it. Totally fine that you disagree with my post, but in no way shape or form would it cause a rational person to call me an idiot. If you don't see how someone would think that was uncalled for, I don't know what is. Afterwards, I didn't beat back, I explained myself, and backed up my thought process with data.

That is totally fine if that is what you would say to my face, but if you can't argue to the data provided, your argument sucks, not mine.

If you feel that getting red-inked over you calling me a name, then you are the one who seems out of control.

It is not like I want Dragic off the team or something, so stop with the theatrics.

Is my data untrue? Try discussing the stat, instead of focusing on other things.

isnt this thread about goran?? im sure the suns brass are seeing him do his FTs. I am kinda not concerned at least right now. remember when amare shot like 80% Fts but he would miss some during crunch time.. now that more troubling. besides this is why basketball has training camp, preaseason, and pre all-star break- to help fix the kinks for the second half and post season run.

Dragic would be smart to put some more work into upping his FT% but that really is the least of his worries. His ball handling, PnR's and general playmaking all need to improve.

I totally get that. But with the increase in minutes from Goran, we saw a decrease in his freethrow shooting. And Like I said, I may be a bit spoiled seeing how we have a 94% shooter in Nash. Nash is getting older, and Goran will be our future, and it could happen when we least expect it. Freethrows should be the easiest thing to keep working on if you know how to shoot, which Goran does. Robin increased is freetrow shooting.

Oh well, I am done with it. If no one else sees any concern with the data I have provided, then so be it. But so far, everyone has just told me there opinion (on the dislike or me personally), and only a few backed it up with data.

I agree with all of this.

Shooting is the easiest thing to work on, because you really don't need anyone there to help you once you know proper form. Game situations, you need other players if not half the team. But shooting is all you. Heck, he has probably the best shooter in NBA history on his team, pick his brain.

But you pretty much have to agree- he was a pretty clutch FT shooter near the end of the season.

General playmaking? Really? I don't agree with that. He is an above average playmaker IMO.

Well, if he's going to be a guy who attacks the rim constantly, his FT shooting is very important. He needs to be at least 80%.

Agreed for certain series, hence the reason I only disliked the stat. But when you look at his average for the playoffs, it is only 74.2%. Is that really great? :dontknow:

He's an OK playmaker right now, I'd say marginally above average. He's more creative than most but he still needs to improve a lot. A lot of times you see him over dribble when he should either make a play or pass it off. Other times he gets a screen but doesn't use it rather opting to make his own move.

Agreed....

it should be noted to those infatuatedly obsessed :waaa: with his FT%, Goran went to the line 2 times a game last yr.

Yes... 2 times.

In 2 yrs, he has less than 270 attempts. A half a season for some.

He may get more minutes (up from 18) but to think he will change his game and become some kind of foul magnet is a hopeful assumption. If anything, the second unit has more balance offensively. His outside shot is his true weapon.... and like Nash, he drives to dish. He can get to the rim, but it seems by memory, often it was a blow by and not contested.

It is easy to over estimate Goran's contribution based on the last few games we saw of him...because it is impossible to get the intoxicating SanAntonio Massacre out of the mind. But I expect pretty much the same 18-20 mins from him, with improvement in the areas mentioned above by the fish.

He will have his days though, where he keeps Nash on the bench as his personal cheerleader. And at least he wont have Barbs draining the clock down then passing off to him him with less than 10 seconds left.

Goran's ability to get the whole second unit clicking together is his worth and focus. Thats his squad. Play hard D. push the ball, get it to the open man for a shot....

oh, and for christsakes .... make both of his free throws. :naaa:

Christ... hasn't this thread become just a little too intense.

A year ago everyone was wondering whether or not Goran could even play at the professional level.

Now we're freaking out about his FT%? Really?

The guy goes off for 23+... against the Spurs... in Game 3 of a playoff game the Spurs HAD to win... in one of the most clutch 4th quarter performances I have ever seen...

The guy could be a 70% FT shooter the rest of his career and I wouldn't care.
