vjguanio wrote:this will never hapen but how about belinelli and calderon for iggy. That way we can get rid of calderon and have jack as pg with brown as back up if we sign him. Also we will be geting a good all around player in iggy and we will have kleiza as back up sf.
IF the sixers move Iggy, their motive would be to shed salary and get younger. As such, I dont think they'd have any interest in Calderon. Something more plausible would be Jack + Belineli + $6mill TPE for Iggy.

Maybe its time to consider agent 0
with the reputation of the franchise being questioned maybe a guy like a Arena a star player with an inferiority complex might work
i'd only consider it if the Raps are getting McGee
Arenas and McGee for Jose, Beli, Banks, Evans, Anderson

Re: Toronto Raptors 2010 Official Trade Ideas Thread
what about this
To ATL: Calderon
To IND: M.Evans + R.Evans + Bibby + Belinelli + MIA Pick
To TOR: Jones + Dunleavy + Foster
or simpler.
To ATL: Calderon
To IND: M.Evans + Bibby
To TOR: Foster + Jones
Jack / Barbosa / Banks
Derozan / Weems / Jones
Klezia / Dunleavy
Bargnani / Davis / Andersen
Foster / Johnson / Alabi
IND gets a PG that costs them 3 million of 2011 cap space (because Jones is in the deal) which is the cost of a 1st round pick.
ATL upgrades their PG spot
TOR gets expiring contracts mostly to offer a max contract

Trade 1:
To Dallas-
Jose Calderon
Ed Davis
Reggie Evans
Dwayne Jones
1st round pick(Tor)
To Toronto-
Tyson Chandler
Rodrigue Beaubois
Dallas has too many centers so they trade 1 for a great back up to Dirk. They give up a great prospect that they are high on in Rodrigue but take back a good back up to Kidd. Also 2 expirings and a pick that should be high.
Toronto gets the center they were after who is also an expiring if he chooses not to re-sign. They also get the pg of their future.
Trade 2:
To Chicago-
2nd round pick(Tor)
TPE
To Toronto-
James Johnson
Chicago gets capspace and a pick
Toronto takes a chance on a nice prospect
Toronto Waives:
Marcus Banks
Toronto Signs:
Bobby Brown
Toronto Roster:
C- Chandler/Anderson/Alabi
PF- Bargnani/A.Johnson/Dorsey
SF- Kleiza/Weems/J.Johnson
SG- Derozan/Barbosa/Belinelli
PG- Jack/Beaubois/B.Brown

So it seems like almost everyone has finally realized that they were wrong about Jose Calderon. Now that we can agree that he is the biggest problem with the raptors, the next step is to get him OFF of the roster. Here's a suggestion: Have Collangelo go to MLSE and admit that he made a huge mistake, argue that we will not be getting better until Jose is no longer on the team, explain that no team will trade anything for him (NOT EVEN EDDY CURRY), and then make them except that a buyout of Calderon's contract is the best option to start winning!!

At this point, I'm really curious to see what team ends up with Jose Calderon.
BC said that he would trade one of the PGs; well, it seems that it could end up being Jarrett Jack, and not, Jose.

The only point guard on the raptors that could help another team is Jack. Offensively he's below average, but he can defend his position. Jose cannot defend any position in the NBA. Unless a team is willing to play zone (and even then he is super slow laterally), he has no place in the league (except for playing garbage minutes.) Even Marcus Banks can D-UP the scrubs that Jose makes look like all-stars.

My god ... do people watch the NBA or do you just read the realgm trade board?
I find it quite amusing that people continue to say Jose has no value. Is he overpaid? Yes no doubt ...
Jose got traded Boris Diaw (1 year less) which was a very fair trade. He then ended up being the centre piece in a much larger deal for Tyson Chandler who was a serviceable C (who had a injury riddle season) and is an expiring. Sure the trade was lob sided, but it seems to me there are chips available to trade Jose for.
But keep spewing your bull ****. Serously a buyout? How much money do you think Jose is going to leave of his contract. He has 28 mill/3 years left before his trade kicker. If you buy him out, he still counts against your cap for your buyout amount and that caphold is untradeable.

Calderon value is attached to his salary. if he was making just 3 mil per year for the next 3 years he would be the most sought out player in the trade market.

Re: Toronto Raptors 2010 Official Trade Ideas Thread
what about this.
To Toronto: AK47
To Detroit: Calderon + Banks + Dorsey (cut right away)
To Utah: Hamilton + Miami 2011 1st Round Pick
Andrei Kirilenko $17,823,000
Richard Hamilton $12,500,000
= 5,323,000
Utah avoids luxury tax with this deal. Yes they trade an expiring for Hamiltons contract but this solves them getting out of luxury tax. Also if they would do that youd think Det would cut us out of the deal but they cant because we absorb the extra salary and DET couldnt get them out of tax alone.
Detroit gets a smaller contract annually and a true PG. Also a 3rd PG in Banks who can add some defense to the lineup.
Toronto gets its SF/PF and clears roster spots who is also an expiring.
Jack / Barbosa / Brown (signed)
Derozan / Weems / Belinelli
Klezia / SF (Evans trade)
AK47 / Davis / Andersen
Bargnani / Johnson / Alabi
* Evans used to get a SF
Calderon / Bynum / Banks
Stuckey / Gordon
Prince / Jerebko / Daye
Monroe / CV
Wallace / Maxiell / Wilcox
Williams / Price / Jeffers
Hamilton / Bell / Gaines
Miles / Hayward / Evans
Jefferson / Millsap
Okur / Fesenko
* This cant be done with DET and Utah alone so DET couldnt cut us out of the deal. It works because DET takes on about 1.5 million of extra salary but save 6 million over the course of Calderon and Hamiltons contract.

alright maybe a bit too early for 2011 predictions but we all know raptors arent going to make the playoffs this coming season, and were projected to have a lottery pick.
Trade Calderon, 3 mill (TPE) to Memphis for 2nd Round Pick.
If we can draft brandon knight id be happy, or kyrie irving.
Sign Marc Gasol
Sign Jeff Green
2011 roster
Brandon Knight/Jarret Jack
Demar Derozan/Leandro Barbosa/Sonny Weems
Jeff Green/Linas Kleiza/Sonny Weems
Andrea Bargnani/Ed Davis
Marc Gasol/Amir Johnson
Realistic?

My point is that Jose is a ball hog on offense and terrible at defense. You can find hundreds of college players that can shoot the ball better than him. He would not make another team in the league even if he was paid the minimum. All that he is going to do this season is get in the way of the development of the younger players on the team, as he holds the ball for 18 seconds every possession, which leaves 6 for the rest of the guys.
I say cut your losses and start over...
Also, Jose did not get traded for Boris Diaw or Tyson Chandler. That was merely Collangelo's proposal to the Bobcats that got shut down immediately!!

I have to disagree, as I think that there are at least 15 backup pgs in the league that can run an offense better than Jose. Not turning the ball over does not mean that you can run an effective offense. Handing the ball off to Bosh and Bargnani for jump shots should not count as an assist.
You are right that his lack of defense could be hidden on a better team, but Kobe would not allow him to hold the ball like he does. I don't care if he was getting the minimum, there are very few GMs dumb enough to want this guy. You have also grossly underestimated Derek Fisher's heart and ability to make clutch shots...two things that Jose does not have.

We all know hes a terrible defender but ball hog on offense? Jose has been known to pound the ball on offense but hog it really? The guy has a career avg USG% of 17.1% and dishes out 8.7 assists per 36 miuntes at the same time ... some ball hall ...

Really? The guy had an efg% of 54.3 and TS% 56.9% last year ... his efg% was 2nd highest on the team (if you don't count the minutes Banks/Rasho played) and his TS% was 4rth highest last year ... and thats considering most people thought Jose had a bad shooting season. The season before, his TS% was 61.3% and his efg% was 56.1% which were highest on the team if you dont count Quincy Douby. Still not good enough? Jose career TS% and efg% are higher then that of Ray Allen ... you know that guy whose going to make it to the HOF known for his lights out shooting? But hey if you can find just as good of shooters in college for minimum then I think a lot of teams should hire you ...
I say cut your losses and start over...

We are trying to cut our losses but please, stop spewing this dumb ass sh*t garbage here ... I hate defending Jose and ive wanted him traded as much as Reignman for the past 2-3 seasons.
And o yeah that deal? It was about to be finalized before Jordon backed out. It wasn't a "proposal" that got shut down immediately. It went so far that agents had told there players they were being moved or did you miss the tweets by Reggie or TC. Not only are you not in tune with whats happening but clearly you have no idea of the ramifications of buying out a player. You don't buy out a player unless there cheap or extremely cancerous like Marbury with 1 year left.
