In the playoffs, where the game is played at a slower tempo, you WANT Shaq for 15 minutes, even if it's just for a post presence. Hell, Nene can run well enough to get back and the Nuggs are athletic enough to switch - they're a cohesive unit after playing together the last few years. What we've missed is a veteran big who NO ONE can push around, even if he's lost a step on the pick and roll. And while a liability on the line, he's still good in the paint and can draw a double team.
Bottom Line - Who wouldn't want Shaq if he's ok with playing a role off the bench? Would LOVE to see Lawson/Smith/Harrington/Anderson/Shaq off the bench...
And yeah, let's all get along. Nats, you kinda push it by calling him kid, though, to be honest. It's not about age, per se, it's about how you can communicate. Maybe he's young, but you can teach him how to respond rather than get in a pissing match..... And Vitamin, I think you were referring more to dead end jobs than "adults", but neither comment is called for on this board. As far as the who's c**k stuff, man, that could get you suspended. Leave that out of here.
We're all Nuggets fans. No need to fight our own. LOL no worries, both of ya can figure it out.

Well, I didn't mean kid in a bad way. Considering he called me an adult, safe to assume he is a kid.
But enough of that silliness.
If Shaq can be happy playing 15 minutes a game, then I'd be for the signing too. Right now it sounds like he wants too much money and a larger role. That's what gives me pause. Will he cause problems if he isn't playing a larger role?
Stastically too, the Cavs were a lot worse with him on the floor. So can't see him being much help on the floor. Although they did have Big Z and the Flopper too, and I would take Shaq over Allen.

Re: Shaq may be good fit for Nuggs?
No and some more no to adding Shaq. I live in PHX so I see all their games, he started losing his step back then, but you could really tell last year in Cleveland. And seeing how we are an up-tempo offense, that would make him look even worse. He'd clog the paint, which would actually hurt Melo. We've been trying to add shooters to help free up space (i.e. Harrington). And even when he'd be down in the paint, other teams would just foul him to send him to the line where he is hideous. If his name wasn't Shaq and you just saw him playing the way he did last year, there's no way you'd want him on this team. Especially as a starter, nonetheless. I'm still all for the plan of cruising along evenly with everyone in our division until the trade deadline, and then use KMart's contract to add a big center that way. We'd get a much more impactful player than Shaq. Obviously I can't list specifics right now because it depends on who's in the race and who's out of it. But there'd be someone out there. And if we want Melo to re-sign, I'd see the FO pulling the trigger on a deal.

Shaq at 38 would only be able to play 15-20 mins tops in this system and altitude.
And he would only be able to play when Billups is on the court.

Would love Shaq for 15-20 a night. Come playoffs with a slower pace, he would be huge for our interior d when matching up against some of the lengthy front courts in the league. Even at his age, he is still huge in the post and is tough to deal with. He would bring an element that the Nuggets are dearly lacking at times. If he's willing to accept the bi-annual exception and a smaller role, which i think he pretty much has to at this point, he would be the best possible addition this team could make right now in the free agent market.

I can't believe there's actually people calling for Shaq to start. There's no way this guy can give that many quality minutes on a team as fast-paced as the Nuggets, let alone in high altitude. I think he could be useful for maybe 10 minutes in a bench role, but he really wouldn't be able to keep up when we run with Lawson/Jr/Harrington/Birdman. We desperately need someone with his size, but not at his age and at this point in his career, he just doesn't fit. On top of that, I don't think there's a chance he accepts the LLE for a limited bench role in Denver.

I actually think he would be good in a starting role but still only playing 15 minutes a game. Even the way the Nuggets O was ran last year, they'd dump it down to Nene to start the games anyway. At least you know Shaq is going to be big, physical, tough and draw double teams. And he could rack up some early fouls on the other teams centers. Just have him in there for the first six minutes, then bring in Harrington and move Nene to center. IMO that is the best solution.
Even if Shaq is not even close to what he was in PHX even. For 15 minutes a game, he'd be worth the risk if he came at a LLE. He's still better than any free agent center, and you'd still have Kmart's contract at the deadline if it doesn't pan out.
