JuddZulgad: There is a chance ownership will go back to Favre with an offer of more than the 13 million for this season.

While I openly acknowledge that Favre may just be posturing to have his own 1hr decision show on ESPN, I can believe it. Favre was decimated in that Vikings/Saints game and there comes a point where one more year of football vs a lifetime of limping isn't worth it. Plus Favre is a shoe in to have endorsement money for the rest of his life. My confidence favre will play another year has dropped from 80% down to 50.

I'm not buying any of it until it is September and he's still not back, but I would obviously love this. Minny without him has no QB that scares me whatsoever.

Hard to say, I don't believe it yet. I'll believe it in week 1.

That said, when he really says no and doesn't show up week 1, he's officially done and not coming back in my mind.

one more side note, Favre reportedly texted his teammates that he's done. Fact or Fiction, who knows, grade A douche, certainly.

I'd love to see him come back, I think we are poised to punish him this year, IF he can stay healthy enough. I think if he doesn't come back, it is because he is worried he'll lose to the Packers twice this year, he'd rather go out after last season's wins.

I don't know, but I always believe him, maybe because it always seems like retirement would be the best decision for him...

This would be great news if true.

I'm not buying it until they play the Saints and he is not in uniform though.

I'm more skeptical. Give me October, if they've played a few games and he's still not coming back, then I buy it.

Two sides of this for me:

I'm 75% happy if he retires. I'll take the tradeoff of "NFL Top Moments of the Decade" and having to watch "Favre shreds old mates twice" episodes.

I do think we could have gotten revenge this year, but that's only part of the story.

1. I just moved to Minneapolis. I might have been suicidal and/or quit my job if he did lead them to a Super Bowl while I'm here. Cowboys are pretty legit but otherwise I see the Saints having a Super Bowl hangover. Him not coming back might also KO their playoff chances at all given the tough out of division schedule.

2. The Packers are a Super Bowl threat. One less team in the mix is always a good thing.

Again, I won't believe it until Week 1.

Also, could the Vikings have told him to do this to spike interest when he decides to change his mind and return? You may laugh and ask why an NFL team needs to get team interest generated but I've been getting "GET YOUR SINGLE GAME TICKETS" fliers in the mail lately here.

I never once thought Favre was not gonna play and would retire yet, and hes atleast gonna play this year. i won't buy Favre's retired until the season is half over.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I have no idea what happens if he fools us a third time, so I'm just gonna wait until September as Luke pointed out and not think about this.

I'm pretty sure his precious consecutive game streak would be over then, so I doubt he does that. If he's not back vs. the Saints, he's done.

I'm not going to completely buy it until September, but I can believe it. There's really no need for him to posture about this since he already has a free pass to not do any of the training camp stuff if he doesn't want to.

I don't know why Favre does this. He's 40 everyone is fine with him missing training camp. he doesn't have to fake retiring to miss training camp anymore. This is the best thing for the Packers. Gives us a way better shot at getting home field in the playoffs. Gives us 1-2 more wins this season if some reason Favre really doesn't come back.

I'm not sold yet. I think he'll def want to play once his ankle heals whenever that is.

This is good for the Packers standpoint now that the Vikings have no QB. I don't hate Brett like most of you though.

I think he's probably done. Although he played great, I think he took alot more punishment than he let on, especially last year in the playoffs.

This locks up the division for the Pack if its true. The flip side is I will be royally pissed now if the Pack don't win the division (if its true).

i think it'd be pretty hard to walk away before your 20th season, i would think you'd play the 20th and then hang it up. assuming you were physically able that is
