Top 5/Worst 5

Post#1 » by VintaGe36 » Wed Aug 4, 2010 4:09 am

Title pretty much says it all.

Rank your top 5 current wrestlers in these categories:

Mic Skill
In-Ring Ability
Overall

Rank your worst 5 current wrestlers in those same categories

For the sake of debate, let's keep the wrestler pool at mid-card and up, since most jobbers are jobbers, because they are terrible on the mic and/or in the ring.

Best-

Mic Skill: 1. Jericho, 2. Punk, 3. Cena (his promos can be pretty bad but we all know he's got the skills to deliver a great one) 4. Edge 5. The Miz. Honorable mention to Orton, HHH and MVP.

In-Ring ability: 1. Jack Swagger, 2. Jericho, 3. John Morrison, 4. Tyson Kidd, 5. Punk. Honorable mention to Evan Bourne and Christian.

Top 5 overall: 1. Jericho, 2. Punk, 3. Cena, 4. Edge, 5. Orton.

Worst-

Mic Skill, Its difficult to get a gauge on this because a lot of guys like The Hart Dynasty never talk. But here it goes: 1. Khali, 2. Tatsu, 3. Kozlov, 4. Chris Masters, 5. Mark Henry

In-Ring ability: 1. Khali, 2. David Otunga, 3. Kozlov, 4. Chris Masters, 5. Vance Archer

Overall: 1. Khali, 2. Kozlov, 3. Masters, 4. Mark Henry, 5. Vance Archer

I still can't believe Cena is making it into people lists. I wouldn't put him in the worst column obviously, but I certainly wouldn't put him in the top.

And by the way, we get weak promos from the best mic guys week after week. It's been a long time since we've had a classic promo.

I actually think Kozlov is good in the ring.

My top 5 wrestlers in the company right now

1. Randy Orton
2. Jericho
3. CM Punk
4. Edge
5. Undertaker

The reason taker is so low is because he works a half schedule.

Worst mid-carders and up.

1. Khali
2. Otunga
3. Miz
4. Matt Hardy
5. Take your pick of any other nxter excluding Gabriel and Tarver.

Miz is number 3 because he's going to be a world **** champion soon. And that's so unnecessary.

Really? We know Cena can talk. He's the super babyface in the PG era so he says a lot of things that a lot of us think are stupid. But we know how great he was as a heel and even right when he turned face.

Even a few months ago when the Vinnie Mac/Bret Hart situation was first starting up after Vince low-blowed him he went on tv and said Bret was never gonna be back Cena came out and cut a promo that bordered on a shoot that was some of the best mic work I've seen all year

K think I understand now,

(not in exact order)

Mic Skill
Best: Jericho, Punk, Edge,Orton,Triple H (honourable mention for Santino, just too funny lol)
Worst: Khali,Koslov, Henry, R-Truth, Alicia Fox (terrible promo last night), Matt Hardy

In Ring Abillity
Best: Swagger, Jericho, Edge, Orton, Bourne/Morrison (can't decide)
Worst: Cena, Khali, Masters, for the last spots i'll say some members of Nexus and some of the divas that can't sell a move.

Having Cena in the bottom 5 for wrestling ability is pretty odd. I know he's not Jericho in the ring, but he's not in the Khali area either.

I'm not hating on Cena cuz he's Cena. If he turned heel or took a few months and came back by not chasing the title for a bit then I would be cool with him. But regardless, he needs more moves in his arsenal before I take him out of my top 5 worst. Can't stand the 5 knuckle shuffle and when he Hulks up and does shoulder to shoulder take downs.

I agree that he's better then Khali, but like others on this board can agree that if he would "Hustle" his a** to the ring and trained harder while working on new moves then he would get the "Respect".

Cena could improve drastically without adding a single move to his move-set. He just doesn't tell an interesting story in the ring. I mean Stone Cold and The Rock weren't exactly Bryan Danielson technical ability wise, but they both had classic matches because they good at telling a story.

Cena every once in a while shows you that he can pull off a more subtle wrestling style, but that's not what his fans want to see. As far as pulling off the moves go, I think he's fine. He has the physical ability and the instincts to sell moves correctly, and quite frankly I believe that's he's a hard worker and that if he wanted to, he could come back like Kobe Bryant and feature a new, perfected move. But he continues to have boring match after boring match. Perhaps he's just not comfortable with his current style/character, I don't know. I wish they would figure it out though.

Before I make my lists, I'll just say that I agree with this...

It's pretty sad to say but one of the best promos I've seen all summer came from 2 rookies on NXT a few weeks back. The promo that Husky Harris, Kaval, and Lay-Cool cut in the backstage area a few weeks back was REALLY good. Wasn't over the top and real theatrical or anything, just a good old fashioned heel vs. face promo face to face.
