West pleaded guilty last month to weapons charges. He was sentenced to eight months of home detention, two years of unsupervised probation, 40 hours of community service and psychological counseling.

Prosecutors said that the sentence would allow West to attend practices and travel to NBA games as his team’s schedule requires, but NBA officials are reviewing the case for possible further discipline.

Artest has been there. with the kind of leadership Kobe has and Ron i believe can greatly influence Delonte regarding his issues.

man come on Larry, West is hardly a risk at the lvl of Artest as you make it seem like...Artest was on a 5yr deal and replacing a key member of the team, if he went nuts we didn't really have any solution at SF other then Kobe I guess. West goes nuts we still got Sasha on deck, I'm sure he'll want to prove himself again. If he doesn't work out either cut him and or trade his arse with Sasha/2011 1st for a servicable 2....worse he gets cut and we live with Sasha for the rest of the year. West at Vet min will do ALOT more for this team then Ratliff at the vet min

I love this move for one year with a team option. If it doesn't work we cut him.

I'd love for us to give him a shot and agree that between Phil, Kobe, Fish and the focus of the organization he'd straighten up. But I'm wondering if the reason he's been cut and might not be picked up is because of the looming legal penalties he could face for the "Desperado" incident last year. Also hope that Boston doesn't get him.
Thank you, Phil.

BINGO!!!!!

If some here just dont want him then fine, but there is NO RISK to our team being affected by anything delonte COULD do other than in the press. Even in that scenerio we boot his azz and move on. With his court situation I would think he would be trying to play his cards right to avoid jail time and blending in to the lakers low key would help him. Lastly KOBE AND PHIL run a tight ship and no bullsh** will be taken round here.

Alright guys have a point, and if we do lose Shannon I would consider has a option, but Kobe and Phil has to watch him.

So is Ron Artest. So was Dennis Rodman.

Yes, but we have never dealt with someone that is bi-polar that's a serious issue. This is the once issue that Phil might not be able to deal with.

This.

Sure he looks like he would make a great fit for the Lakers, but his off the court problems are a little startling.

This sounds good sign West for vet. min. Then the lakers can let Shannon Brown leave. Which seems like what is going to happen anyways right. Delonte West is a very good shooter.

Well looks like I was wrong about Shannon Brown he re-signed for two years.

I think possible destinations are hard to figure out for Delonte West. I think he is a solid player, always liked since watching Delonte West, and Jameer Nelson back in their St. Joe days.

Possible Destinations:
Jazz-To replace Korver's shooting they lost. He would be a good fit on the Jazz.
Spurs-They would take advantage of his shooting skills and he could give Parker relief.
Grizzlies-Outside of Conley,O.J Mayo they don't have many ball handlers. Getting West would improve their bench giving them some rest.
Pacers-They really don't have many guards, he could get big minutes there.
